How much weight did you gain during your pregnancy

by kmchenry254, Jul 25, 2009 02:58PM
OK IM 5"3 AND BEFORE I WAS PREGNANT I WEIGHED AROUND 102-105 LBS
I AM NOW 20 WKS AND WEIGH ABOUT 115 LBS. WHICH I THOUGHT WAS GOOD BUT AT MY LAST CHECK UP MY DOCTOR SAID I WAS AT THE TOP OF THE CHART AND I NEED TO SLOW IT DOWN GAINING WEIGHT
ITS NOT LIKE I EAT ALL THE TIME I ONLY EAT WHEN IM HUNGRY AND NOT TO MENTION IM JUST NOW ABLE TO ACTUALLY KEEP ANYTHING DOWN.
ONE OF MY FRIENDS MOMS IS A NUTRITIONIST AND SHE SAID I WAS UNDER WEIGHT TO BEGIN WITH SO I SHOULD GAIN A LIL BIT MORE THAN USUAL
WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY FIRST PREGNANCY I STARTED OFF AT 105 AND THE DAY I HAD MY SON I WAS 152 LBS AND LIKE A WEEK AFTER I HAD HIM I WAS BACK TO MY NORMAL WEIGHT
IM NOT REALLY STRESSING HOW MUCH I GAIN NOR HOW MUCH I DONT GAIN IM JUST GONNA KEEP GOIN HOW I AM BECAUSE I FEEL IM DOING GOOD
BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW MUCH EVERYONE ELSE GAINED DURING THEIR PREGNANCIES?

Oh just to give you an idea I believe someone who is normal weight pre-pregnancy should gain about 25-30lbs. Someone who is under 30-35. (So I've been told).

Personally as long as the baby is doing well please don't stress over the amount of weight you've gained. I know its easier said then done...I'm mad that I have already put on more then my last pregnancy but my last gain was unhealthy.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I have never had a doc tell me my weight was too much - I think your doctor is off his rocker

first baby I was 98 got preggo 150 delivered - lost it all quickly (I was MUCH younger then)

next baby - 110 start - 140 deliver - lost it is about 4 - 5 months 105 by five months after birth

next twins - start at 115 (after all the meds etc so you can say 105 or 115)  120 at 20 qeeks - then gained 32 more poiunds by 35 weeks - lost it all within 3 weeks of delivery

next twins - start same place - no weight gain at all till 17 weeks - 120 pounds for weeks 18 - 24 - then gained around 20 pounds steadily for next 12 weeks - lost 3 pounds on bed rest - I am at 110 - 115 - have more to lose - they are 8 months old

With my first: 80 lbs ( I know, ridiculous, but I lost all of it plus)
With my second: 25lbs ( He is now 4 months and I have 10 to lose)

Normal weight gain during pregnancy (if your pre- pregnancy weight was normal) is between 25- 35 lbs. For underweight people they say to gain more, with obese people they say gain less). Don't stress though, with both pregnancies I gained the majority of my weight by 20 weeks then gained hardly anything the last half.

1st baby 25 lbs
2nd baby 35 lbs
3rd baby 15 lbs
4th baby- im 36.3 weeks and I have gained 17 so far. I am really trying to gain more but nothing is working.
I think your weight gain so good. I would just keep doing what your doing and not stress too much:)

Your doc is seriously telling you to slow down and you've only gained 10 pds in 20 weeks.  I think he IS off his rocker too.  If I remember correctly I gained around 25 pds with my daughter.  My entire pregnancy my weight went up and down.  I think I created a post about it way back when.  I'll have to look for it.  Anyway, I think you are doing great!  I wouldn't stress over it at all if you feel you are not going over board with junk foods and such.

I'm 5'5" and gained 50 pounds both pregnancies, my OB wasn't too concerned, I have lost half of it and I am only two weeks post-pardum!
