How to dress your baby at night in the summer?

How to dress your baby at night in the summer?

How the heck are you supposed to dress your baby at night when it's summer time?  We share a room with our 6 month old and we put the ceiling fan on medium.  I put my son in a long sleeve onesie and a thin cotton halo sack because he seems to get cold at night and wakes up frequently.  When I lower the fan, my fiance and I are in puddles of sweat on the bed.  We have decided to take the fan from the living room and point it directly at our bed but how should I dress my ds?  Do I now put him just a short sleeve onesie and the halo sack...I'm so confused.

If he seems to be getting cold at night I would dress him in a long sleeved sleeper with the footies on them and a little hat. If he seems like he's started to sweat which you would definantly notice then take the hat off and if that doesn't work then switch to a onesie and see how that goes. Babies often tend to get way colder than we do even when it is hot outside. So if you feel he get's cold at night which they usually do from not moving and not being able to pull the blanket over there body then just keep him in a long sleeve sleeper and see how that goes. Hope that was helpful

I haven't used the halo sacks. I just put jacob in a long sleeved sleeper.  It gets really hot here but cold in the house with the a/c on.  Do you think I should be using a halo blanket instead of a sleeper?

I used to put Avery in a long sleeved sleeper and the sleep sack when it was cold outside. Now I just put her in a long sleeve sleeper. Maybe you could try putting Jayden in just a long sleeved sleeper. Good luck! :) I hope starts sleeping better! :)

Oops sorry-that was supposed to say I hope Jayden starts sleeping better.

Thanks ladies.  I will try the long sleeved sleeper.  Maybe I should try the hat.  It's funny because when I put him in the long sleeve onesie and the sack he seems warm on his body.  I'm wondering if it's his head that's getting cold.  Also, poor little thing, tries to pull the halo sack to his face.  He loves sleeping with a blanket over his face or close to his cheek.  I'm too paranoid to give him a receiving blanket while he's sleeping though.  Afraid he may suffocate.  I guess I will try everything.

Tanker Chic - The sack is like a blanket, but if your ds is fine with the sleeper than you don't have to switch it.

I know, I'm exhausted.  The past two nights have been horrible.  With him being sick last night and my stomach issues the night before.  It's been a nightmare.  How's Avery doing?  I know she was having sleeping issues also.

I always used one of the lighter weight long sleeved sleepers and sometimes with a onsie underneath it because of the a/c. The halo sacs are awesome too!

Love the Halo sacks.  That way I don't have to worry about my son kicking off his blankie and gets cold in the middle of the night.  If it's Summer, I put him in short sleeves but his Halo sacks is made with the fleeze material so I dress him light so he won't over heat.

I have both the fleece and cotton halo.  I put him in the cotton one now but in the winter I put him in the fleece one.  Our room always is extreme, either too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.  It's very frustrating because I think the fan blowing on him makes him too cold.  I hate sleeping with air conditioning because it makes my throat hurt in the morning.  With the halo sacks the arms are cut out so I have to put him in long sleeves with the fan going.  When I feel him, he's always sweating but yet he gets cold.  Maybe he's cold because the sweat is wet and then the breeze from the fan makes him more cold?  I'm so tired right now from lack of sleep, I don't even know if I'm making sense anymore.

Ive had this issue too; Our central air seems to be too cold for Jameson.Even though its summer, I've still been putting light sweatpants on him instead of his shorts, because his little legs always feels cold. And for bed, I bought him several pairs of cute p'.js with shorts bottoms, and he's always cold in the night when I get him. So I think I will return the ones with tags still on and get long p.j.s. He kicks his blankies off so he needs to be covered.
I've also noticed that the nights I put him to bed WITH long p.j.s on he sleeps better---I know its because he isn't cold at all.

It is always better for them to be too cold than too hot. I use the lightweight cotton onesies. Adjust the fan to prevent it from blowing directly on him. Though mine always seemed to like the fan on them.

Unfortunately it's a ceiling fan.  That's why I think we are going to maybe put that one on low and then use the portable fan from the living room and face it to our bed.  This way he won't get hit with that air but we don't wake up in a pool of water.

That is what we used, a separate fan, makes it easier to direct the flow ;-)

True, we will attempt it tonight.  You know between my dog's licking and shacking his head, my fiance's snoring, the baby whinning...I'm surprised I get any rest at all.  I think I'm going to rent a hotel room for one night and sleep there...lol.

Maybe to keep the air moving with the ceiling fan, you could turn it to the winter setting, that way it wouldn't be blowing the coldest air right on him.

I have adjusted it to the warmest setting and then there really is no point in having it on....lol.  You know what's funny, once the little bugger is in my bed, he's all nice and cozy with us, he doesn't seem to care about the fan.  He's tricking us so he can sleep with us...lol.

Thanks for all the advice.  I will keep trying until we get it right :)
