soak your hand in ice and water it may make the swelling go down a bit to get it off.

That's what I was thinking. Get your hand really cold, and some of the swelling will go down. Then, I bet the soap or oil will work!

Try the ice...thats what makes the swelling in my feet go down.  I prop them up and put ice packs on them everynight...nothing else works.  I quite wearing my ring a while back...and its so funny the looks you get.  Hubby wears his so its like a pregnant girl out with some married man!

See what time of day the swelling is less and then stick your hand in ice water or the freezer for a while.  Mine are already off incase I get swelling.  I hope it comes off for you.

also, believe it or not Windex works!  That is what they use at all the jewerly stores when a ring you try on gets stuck and when I was pregnant and could not get my ring off that is what they used on me to help me get it off!

Ice it and use lotion or oil around your ring finger.  You can always put your ring on your necklace.

Yes, Windex is good!  I had to have mine cut off with my first, though!

I couldn't get my ring off from when I was about 5 months pregnant, until my daughter was like 8 monhts old!! They never had to cut mine off though, because it could still move around some on my finger, I just couldnt' get it off.  I had to pry it off with lotion eventually and get it resized so it wouldn't happen again!

Harley, there's a man who people usually refer to as "Leatherface" who owns a chainsaw. Let me know if you need his help! LOL

(just trying to add a little humor...so please, nobody jump on me today!;-)

Wonder if she got it off? Maybe her hand is frozen in the freezer??

I agree that you need to get your hand really cold. Your tissues shrink up when they're cold.

Don't eat salt the day before, soak hand in something cold, hold hand above head so blood runs out, slather finger with Vaseline and twirl ring, pull hard.  Easier to cut off ring than cut off finger.  Good luck!!!

sometimes i want to slap people. our big fair is in town. always fun and always lots of people. watching the news i saw some children (they do a section where kids report from the fair) and this little boy had 2 rotten front teeth. his baby teeth. do you know how much they are probably spending at this fair!!! today kids are free but adults cost $8.00- parking anywhere from $5-$10. ok and if you eat that is easily another $40. rides maybe $20 if they ride just a few. and then all the **** people buy from the fair. its just upsetting to see people who dont take care of dental or other care for their children but always spend at fairs, disneyland, movies, and that money could be spent on fixing those teeth! i guess my priorities are different than some. moms with coach purses, lots of gold jewelry, name brand this and that, but children who are in need. i saw it all the time at a dental clinic i worked at years ago. people with no money to spend on teeth that were falling out and rotten, but they had a new car, big screen tv (ya they would brag) and a trip to hawaii. goes to show some people really shouldnt have children!

Well Leatherface came over and took care of it for me. :)

Actually it took me 30 mins w/ tears at it hurt so baaaad to get it off by using ice and K-Y jelly. My finger is now even more swollen and bleeding where the skin actually tore off. :(   That ring was on tight!!! So glad I was able to get it off on my own though.

Ouchie.. I am glad it's off.  Are you going to wear it with your necklace?
Blank
Avatar_n_tn
Nah, I wear so many different necklaces and most do not have a simple chain. I put it in the jewelry box until it fits once again.

Talking to all of you on Med Help is how I spend my days. J/K  Actually I like to read so I stock up on library books and I also am addicted to the Discovery Health channel and watch all the maternity shows. I also have been slowly decorating for Halloween.

Shower is Oct 14th!!!! I am so excited. I invited 25 friends so a nice size one but not overly huge...
Are u having one???

I watched the same channel the whole 3 months during summer while I was recovering from my surgeries. Only made me said that I will have no one to help me like most of the girls get from their families, but was funn too watch. I read like crazy too.

I have my shower on the 29, so still lots of time. I think I invited like 30 or so of my friends and family, but I am not expecting them all show up. My MIL and DH aunt are flying in, the rest is from around where we live.

I am in physical therapy, for my knee, and right after surgury they told me to only Ice for 20 min or it has the opposite affect your body thinks it is freezing and will start to swell.  So If you do ice don't go over 20min and they said to keep a cloth between you and the ice.  So maybe just try an ice pack for 15 min or so.  Good luck, Can they repair your ring if you have it cut off?

I always see people like this, too. It's shameful that some parents are like that. It makes it painfully obvious that the children were more than likely "accidents" from where they were too irresponsible to use birth control. Then, when they end up with a child, they are still in "selfish" mode, and don't feel they should have to provide for him/her. They are still overly concerned with their OWN needs and wants. I always feel like crying when I see ANYONE with bad teeth. It breaks my heart...but especially when it is an innocent child who has no other choice.

But...there is hope! I saw a leaflet for my nephew's elementary school the other day, and it was announcing a "dental clinic" that would come into the school and clean children's teeth and give them a proper checkup. If further dental work was needed, they would refer the parents to a local dentist who would do it, and work with the parents financially. My sister is not one to neglect her children's teeth, so this wasn't an issue with them, but it was nice to see that the truly neglected kids would get a chance to have healthy teeth...regardless of their parents selfishness. (I think the parents had to sign a form of consent, but I'm sure all of these cheap parents wouldn't turn down a FREE dental cleaning)

I know the type you mean. I remember a couple of kids from when I was in school who were always dresses in rags, and poorly cared for. Then you'd see their mom, dressed all nice, new shoes, jewelry, hair done at the salon. My mom would always comment on it. another one that gets me though is families that I know are on medicaid that don't take their kids to the dentist. There's a 14 year old girl that lives around the corner whose front teeth are all pitted along the tops with cavities. Her mother has no front teeth, and although she looks 50, I bet she isn't more than 35 or so. Some people just don't care. Her daughter will not get help until it's to late to save her teeth.

well there are places people can go. the college has free cleanings for the education hours of hyg. students. my ex boss retired and is involved in a clinic. and medical isnt just for the very poor-they also go by income and have a small copayment based on income. its a matter of choice in my opinion. id skip my carpayment if my child needed work or have a yard sale or whatever i needed to do. baby teeth dont always feel the pain permenant teeth do so i guess if they arent in pain parents figure they will fall out anyway. but its unhealthy and kids make fun. remember ladies never ever give a bottle in the bed, even if they just drink a little over time it will cause decay! starting good oral habits early are the way to go. when my son got his first teeth i just used a washcloth to rub his teeth and dont use toothpaste until they are able to spit not good if they swallow it. jeez i guess sometimes i miss working with the dentist
