How to get your newborn to sleep in bassinet/crib?

So my son is 4 weeks old and still will not sleep in his bassinet. I will get done breast feeding him and he'll fall fast asleep but as soon as I lay him in the bassinet he wakes up within 5min and gets fussy. I usually let him fuss for awhile unless he starts really crying. I've even tried swaddling him but this only bought me about 20min :( It makes it really hard to get stuff done during the day and hard to sleep at night.

Anyone else have this issue? What did you do about it and did your child eventually get used to the bassinet/crib? I finally started laying on the couch (with pillows propped up behind me) with him on my chest because I was getting absolutely no sleep before. However it'd be nice to have him in the bassinet and I'm sure it'd be safer.

I suggest buying a good comfortable sling to carry hum in. out of 4 kids two of mine were like that. M new one now 4 months is the same way. But he does now like to sleep in his crib at night only. You can also try one of those hamocks for babies, he loved that!

Baby hammocks? I haven't heard of those, where can you get them? And it's nice to know that in a few months he might actually sleep in his crib.

if swaddling works a little, continue that. Also try white noise.
My bassinet had a vibrate feature. that was a lifesaver. Does yours have one?
Also, I used a simple, cheap sleep positioner (like $10). It hugged their bodies, making them feel secure. However, I think I recently saw a news story about them not being safe? You may want to look in to it.
Some people end up having their babies sleep in the carseat. I personally avoided it because of the risk of positional asphyxiation. These ppl swore their pediatricians said it was ok?? I wouldn't go by that of course... but ask your ped in general what s/he advises.

the vibration button only distracts him for a little bit (usually long enough to snarf some food down, lol). I will look into the sleep positioner too. I think the problem is that the bassinet isn't as cozy as mommy and he feels less secure.
