How to tell how far along you are

How can you tell how far along you are if you have long menstrual cycles. For example instead of a period every 28 days you have one every 39 days. How would this affect knowing how far along the pregnancy would be

until you have an u/s you would count it the same as normal.....from the first day of your last cycle
