How will Strep throat affect me at 27 weeks pregnant

My 7 year old daughter came down with strep throat today, I do not have it that I know of yet and I hope not to get it BUT if I get it how will if any it affect my pregnancy? Can it harm the baby? My doctor says as soon as I think I might have it to call and they will call me in a script for antibiotics, I don't like to take meds of any kind but I will If I have to of course. Has anyone had strep while pregnant, any comments on the subject.... Thanks and baby blessings to all

My sister asked her doctor a good question I would ask yours "what is harder on the baby-me being sick or me taking meds?"  It is a good way to make your decision.  Good luck!

i'm pretty leery of antibiotics during pregnancy unless really necessary. try preventatives - make sure she completely covers her mouth and nose when coughing/sneezing, wash everyone's hands often, don't eat off her dishes, etc. also, if you come down with a sore throat, dont automatically assume its strep - get a couple cultures to confirm before you consider drugs.
