How young can babies start teething??

How young can babies start teething??

DD will be 4 months next week..she is drooling sooo much I change her shirts several times a day.  She is also biting everthing and everyone.  Also she has been a bit crabby during the day and makes wierd yelping sounds.  Could she get her first tooth in just a few weeks?  What remedies are there that work best to sooth her discomfort?

babies can teeth for months before one erupts. some get them that early and some later. they can drool for quite some time before it comes through. if he is grouchy though maybe he is getting a tooth early! mine started the drooling at 3-4 months and got his first tooth at 6 months.

It's very possible that it's a tooth.  It's not too early.  You can try a frozen washcloth, Hyland's teething tablets, tylenol, cold teething rings, orajel, counter pressure from your finger pressing against the gums...I'm out of ideas for the moment but good luck and I hope that lil tooth pops through soon!

We can always tell when my DD is teething b/c she doesn't seem like herself.  She's working on tooth #3 right now and I'm ready for it to erupt already!  :)  A good indicator also is to try to touch their gums in the first place.  The closer her teeth have been to the surface the more she refuses (or cries) when I touch her gums.

mine is 5 1/2 months and has two teeth.  I used tylenol and then someone suggested motrin for fussy baby with pain. Motrin is what helped my baby so much while teething.  Just don't use it around the clock.  I believe she got her first tooth at 4 1/2 months.

My DD is 18 lbs so not a problem with meds there!  My problem is I am back in school (final semester) and have to study...DD doesn't sleep much at all in the night and daytime naps are really short.  I am just trying to give her something so that she isn't crying all night.  THe binkie works until she spits it out---I would like to get rid of the binkie eventually too---don't want her dependent on it.  Tried a frozen teething ring--several times but she cries and cries.  For now I am giving her Tylenol infant drops but it doesn't seem to be working.

Oh God....we just we got over the colic (:  I guess it is true what they say...it is one thing after the next with our little bundles...but oh I do love her to pieces!!

Yes my brother was one of those babies born with a tooth so suffice to say my Mum never breast fed he was her first and she was too scared. Good Luck it will all be over before you know it.

My DD started teething at 10 weeks.  It's gotten progressively worse and she's now 20 weeks.  I use tylenol when it's not so bad and Infants' Advil when it's really bad because motrin starts faster and lasts longer but the 2 meds are not mutually exclusive. You can give motrin every 6 hours as needed and tylenol every 4 as needed and both at the same time if absolutely necessary.
Also, frozen things would just hurt my DD so she chews on soft things.  She still hasn't broken a tooth yet but I'm hopig it will be soon.
I also use baby anbesol and baby oragel for night time.
One word of advice though on the motrin, your child needs to be over 12 pounds for it to be safely used.  Consult your dr if he or she is not.
Good luck!!

Yeah, I have a feeling Ariella's teething as well b/c she's been drooling and biting her fists (and chewing on them even after she's eaten).  We'll see how it goes and when she gets her first tooth.

I had to stop breast feeding my first DS at about 3 months, that is when he cut his top 2 teeth.

With my DD, she didn't teeth until way later.

Besides the drooling, if they are teething, you'll notice in their gums little light pink/white spots where the teeth are pushing against the gums.
