Hypoglycemia/Hyperinsulinimia

by musyaka, May 10, 2006 12:00AM
My son was born with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)caused by high insulin level. He spent 7 weeeks at the hospital after birth where they started him on diazoxide to supress his insulin. He is currently 5 mo. old and weighs 16lb. and taking 0.2ml (10 mg) of the medicine 3 times a day. My husband and I went through hell while waiting for numerous test results (thank God, everything came back negative), and still face the uncertainty of what to expect later on.
Please respond if you or somebody you know has/had the same situation. If your child grew out of it, then how did it happen?
If you are still dealing with it, we will be happy to hear from you and maybe share our experience.

Thank you
