Hysterosalpingogram and missing ovaries!

Hysterosalpingogram and missing ovaries!

I wonder if someone could help me.
I skipped a period for an unknown reason and it has never happened before, as we were ttc I had to go to the Hospital for a blood pregnancy test and an ultrasound. I wasn't pregnant so have been given provera to kickstart my periods so that I can book in for my Hysterosalpingogram.

When I had the ultrasound they could not find my ovaries at all! She wanted to check that I didn't have any obvious cysts. I was very worried but she said sometimes they hide and are hard to find if you had a full bladder or things were in the way. She also said if there was a large cyst it would have made the ovary stand out like a sore thumb so she isn't concerned.

Even though she told me not to worry that they couldn't find them I was wondering if they will show on a Hysterosalpingogram and if they will be checked, I know this procedure is mainly to check for tube blockage but I want to know that my ovaries are there and that they are ok.

Have any of you had this happen to you?

Don't worry, your ovaries are there, or you wouldn't have periods.  Usually a hysterosalpingogram does not concern itself with the ovaries, as they are not connected to the tubes and so the dye comes into contact with them only incidentally.

I agree w/Annie  I had an HSG done 2 weeks ago today & I did not see my ovary (I only have 1) & I even asked if they could see it, & he said no.

Thank you so much! All of this fertility business is new to me. The reproductive medicine dept contacted me today to tell me they have booked me in for another scan the same day as the HSG so I guess they will be checked over if they can find them this time!

All of this is very stressful so it's nice to find people who are going through the same thing.
