I AM ABOUT TO GO CRAZY! HELP!!!!

by Molar_or_multiples, Aug 14, 2008 10:25AM
I found out I was preggers.  The nurse wanted me to get Beta quants 72 hors apart. The levels were 572 and then 2462 - quadrupled instead of doubled! Levels were rising quickly so had an ultrasound to make sure it was not ectopic. Not ectopic and the Dr. thinks it's about 5 weeks if she had to guess. Cannot see much of anything but she did see what appeared to be a sac and then a few more (3-5) sacs of the same size near by (but not clustered yet). She said those could be blood-filled sacs of the egg trying to bury itself in the uterus, which is normal (but no common), it could be multiples, or it could be a molar pregnancy (which is also rare).  My uterus is normal (golf-ball size) for 5 weeks but my elevated hcg levels coupled with the extra "sacs" make her think it could be a molar pregnancy. She says has no feeling one way or the other (normal, multiples, or molar), but she did give me a pamphlet about molar pregnancies, which, in turn, makes me think that she thinks it's molar.  I still have to wait 2 more weeks for another ultrasound but I am about to go crazy. I have not had any bleeding and feel nothing of the pregnancy except that I have to use the bathroom often. I am also currently breast feeding full-time to our 13 month old son. Every blog I've read about others with molar or suspected molar pregnancies have had much higher hcg levels than i do at this same stage.  Does anyone have any advice on this?  Anyone gone through something similar?

Forgot to add...please pray for a healthy (singleton or multiple) pregnancy and not a molar pregnancy!

Don't worry to much about your HCG level....
Mine was 7360 at 5 weeks with one healthy baby boy.

I did have a similar experience with what was viewed on your u/s at 6 and 7 weeks with one pregnancy and I did have blood filled sacs (2) next to the embryo.

That's reassuring.  Did they think it was molar?  See, it's not that my levels are high, it's that they are quadrupling every 72 hours is what concerns them.  Plus the sacs they found.  Did they express any concerns over the extra sac they found in yours?

My levels tripled in less than 48 hours so would have more than quadrupled in 72 hours. I have a healthy 13 month old son now. I would not worry about the levels. Just try to relax and stay calm. It is what it is, so just know that no amount of worry will change the outcome that is meant to be. Good luck and keep us posted. Congrats on your pregnancy!!

My levels were tripled and quadrupled a few times in the early stages.

The pregnancy they found the sacs in didn't stick.  I lost that little girl.  I had to have a d&e.....but it was not for that reason.

They found out afterward that I had a blood clotting disorder.

She was actually my 3rd loss.

I'm sorry for your loss.  I can't imagine how that would feel.  Thanks for sharing.

Just an update!  All is well!  yea!  Had another ultrasound today and the little bean (yes, just one) is growing well.  7 weeks and 0 days (due April 14th) Heartbeat is 136, and no sign of any other sacs - good or bad!  Yea!  :)  Thank you so much for all the prayers!
