by lrf0622, Mar 20, 2005 12:00AM
hey everyone,

just wanted to let you guys know i had my little guy 4 weeks ago.
this is the first chance i've had to get online i've been really busy.  Labor lasted 14 hours anf 5 minutes. it was a lot harder and more painful than i ever imagined it would be but it was so worth it when they handed me my little man.

having said that,,,can anyone give me a rough estimate of how long it takes the stitches to disslove?  it's really uncomfortable.

Hey congrats!!!

Are you sure these are dissolvable stitches?? Usually dissolvable stitches are 7-10 days. You said you are post partum 4 weeks. I had dissolvable stitches for my c-sections and some dissolved too soon!!!

Do you have a 6 week post partum check up for yourself??
Or maybe ask the doctor, maybe they are dissolved already and its just a little sore and not quite healed.

My stitches dissolved and were out within a week. I would think they should be out by now. Danielle

Congrats on your little man!

My stictches were out in a few weeks,  However, I tore with an epsiotomy.  It was horrible! It is amazing how well it heals.

Congrats!

Your stitches shouldn't be terribly uncomfortable by now--mention it to your doc if you are truly in a lot of discomfort.

Congrats on your little guy.  I had an episiotomy with my first baby and it took forever it seemed to get back to normal and with my 2nd baby I had one little stitch and was NEVER uncomfortable.  I was actually ready to go home the next day where with my DD it was a week and I still needed help tying my shoes.  Good Luck to you.
