I hate my favorite food

I hate my favorite food

Has anyone else experience food aversion? I am 5 weeks and my morining sickness has not kicked in yet. Well Yesterday I made a big pan of baked macarroni and cheese, I wanted it soooooo bad. All of a sudden I felt sick. Everytime I want to go in the kitchen and eat it, I felt sick again, just the thought of it. I aslo hate chicken noodle soup, and that is the only thing since yesterday I have been eating.

Yes, I cant eat chicken anymore or mac/cheese! Almost everything my dh cooks, I have to leave the house to breathe. He has to open the windows to air it out before I can come in again. Eventually, I can eat but while its cooking, I have to leave the area! This has been going on since week 8! If it starts effecting me eating Porterhouse steaks, I will really be uspset! I am in week 14!
Good luck!

If you are hating your favorite food now definitely stop eating it.  If it makes you sick now then you may be reminded of that  after you have the baby and it may take you a long time to eat it again.  I did that with AuGratin & Scalloped potatoes.  I loved them before I got pg with my daughter but while pg I could not stand them.   I did however go back to eating them after I had her and with this pg I can still eat them.   I have not found much I can't eat with this baby I just don't eat as much of what I do eat.  I have been wanting lots of sour stuff and fruits this time around.   Well I hope you can go back to eating your mac & cheese (that is one of my favorites also) Good Luck with everything.

Before I got pregnant, I ate chicken almost everday, and now it makes me sick!  I'm 17 weeks and it STILL tastes gross to me.  I am craving everything bad for me that I normally would NEVER crave.  I feel like eating Mexican food everyday....I don't always give in to my cravings though.  If I did, I'd have already gained 25 pounds.  I'm really, REALLY having to dig deep and find some will power somewhere.

That is so funny you mentioned that you are craving sour foods.  If I recall you think you are having a boy.  There is an old wives tale that says if you are craving sour foods you are having a boy and if you are craving sweet foods you will have a girl.  Just thought it was funny you mentioned that.

Before I was pregnant I ate chicked ALL the time and loved it.  Now I really can't stand it.  I still eat it though because of the protein.

LOL That is funny! I hope that wives tale is true!

I LOVE Mexican food. Before this pg I could eat it everyday! My Mil always joked that I must be half-Mexican as much Mexican food as I ate!!

Then BOOM, I get pg and this baby hates that stuff. My DH is relieved! Now everytime we go out, we don't have to go eat Mexican food!  I am half miserable! I LOVE Chuy's creamy jalepeno asuce (anybody ever had that?) and I CAN"T EAT IT!!!

:( GGRrrrr....

hahhaahahaha   Sounds like Chicken seems to be the common "yuck" food amongst us! Have you noticed that its very difficult to order food at a restuarant. Everything is CHICKEN!LOL

I didn't eat meat for 12 years before getting pg this time, then boom out of nowhere I was craving big macs and whoppers!! Dh loves it, he has been waiting for me to start eating meat again since we met 6 years ago. He actually thought it would happen when I was pg with Jonathan, but I was even more repulsed by it then.

Kassimom, are you in Houston? I used to love eating at Chuy's we would do a lot of happy hours there for work. I loved their mini quesadilla's (sp) and they had some excellent drinks : )

I agree with everyone else, if you really like something, avoid it like the plague while pg. Even during the pg's that ended in m/c, if there was a fav food I ate while pg, I was just about gauranteed to develop an aversion to it. The first 6 months of this pg I couldn't even smell coffee without gagging (literally followed by vomitting) I knew enough to not tempt it and just stayed away from it. I wish I had been so smart about other things. Now whenever I try to drink a chocolate boost (had to live off of those during the first 2 trimesters as the m/s was severe and I couldn't keep anything else down, let alone my prenatals), I get sick.

I am actually from Spokane,Washington originally, but moved to Houston for a few years in 1999 (my dad and step mother have been there since 92) I have been back in WA since 2001, but now I live near Seattle (normally yucky weather, but beautiful today!!)

you know now that you mention it I do realize I cant stand chicken either. It seems like all I do is gag now. When i smell an ash tray full with ashes oh my gosh it feels like my throat is going to come out. I cant wait until this part is over with. How am I going to keep a job when all i do is gag

That is funny you said that.  I have heard the same wives tales and you know I think that is one I can believe.  With my daughter I wanted a Hostess cupcake of ho ho or suzy q with a thing of chocolate milk every morning and now she is the biggest sweet tooth.  With this one I am eating lemonheads, sweet tarts and any other thing sour I can find.  Even a lemon is not sour enough for me.  Maybe this baby will enjoy a nice pickle with me every so often since DH and DD won't eat them.  LOL.    Well Take Care

i have a similar aversion that developed in my first pregnancy.  i used the lotion Glysomed a lot and now the smell makes me gag.  it's not just food.  also, during my 1st preg., i couldn't eat any steak.  this pregnancy, that's all i feel like eating.  no chicken.  don't even mention chicken!!

Yes I live in Houston! And it is so funny that you live in WA! That's where my dad lives! I usually get up to see him twice a year, but this year I won't make it. he lives in Renton.

Renton isn't too far from here : ) I am in Bremerton, dh's hometown. In fact we live a block from his folks and the house he grew up in.

I do not envy you living in Houston. Hated everything about that town but the food, lol! I lived in the Galleria area and my folks are in Sugarland (Greatwood). Send some Sonic and Popeye's my way, I miss it!

I can completely relate to you guys.  Before ever getting pregnant I hated seafood.  After I was pregnant with my DD I craved shrimp.  I would go to applebees and order their popcorn shrimp platter. Now I love shrimp.  So I agree foods that we normally love we end up hating and foods we don't like we end up loving.  Strange what those hormones do to us.  My food aversion was leftovers.  I could not even think about touching anything from the night before or even putting it away for that matter.  I could not even wash the dishes with food left on them it would make me gag.  Thank goodness that is all over.  Although somethings will still turn my stomach and I am 15 weeks on Wednesday.

This is sort of off the subject, but I have 3 girls and my husband and I really want to have a boy.  Any good suggestions on what I should eat, not eat, wear, say anything???  This is out last chance after this time we are done trying...
