I have a heartbeat-- can I relax

Well, I have been truly blessed with a yolk sack in the uterus with a beating little heart!   131 BPM!!!   The tech made a comment that she thought I also had an ectopic pregnancy going with the good pregnancy, but that turned out to be a mistake.   Anyway I am a little obsessive... and a little nuerotic.   I had a mc in February and I do not want to go through that ever again.   We have tried to get pregnant for 3 years and finally got pregnant and lost it right before 7 weeks.

Now I am 6 weeks 3 days.  Strong little bean heartbeat.   Is it safe to relax a little now?   What are the chances of mc again?   I really want to enjoy this pregnancy (my first), but I feel I am analying every little sting, pinch, twing, gas bubble... you name it.

Am i safe to relax?

A Strong heartbeat is a very good sign. Think positive thoughts.

Congrats!  There will always be something to stress about....
You will find that you will relax more with each week.  Pregnancy after m/c can be very difficult.  I wish you a healthy and uneventful pregnancy!  TAke care!

The doctor told me with my 2nd pregnancy (had a miscarriage before that one) that your chance of a miscarriage after seeing the heartbeat is around 3%.  I happened to be in that 3% that time, but my 3rd try looks to be a winner.  I still worry and I am 20 wks along- I would recommend to try not to worry.  Someone once told me that even if you do miscarry, you will remember it- make it a positive memory.  Not that encouraging I guess- but good luck!

Once you hear the heartbeat your chances of m/c go down. Then once you get out of the first trimester they go down again a lot. Like the above poster said with each week it will get better.

Congrats! I heartbeat is very reassuring. I miscarried my first and am now 31 wks I try not to worry about things but still do. I worry when she doesn't move. I worry I'm not eating right! I am just a compulsive worrier. But on the other hand I also try to stay positive and enjoy my pregnancy. The worry will never completely go away but you do forget about it from time to time. Enjoy your pregnancy and happy health 9 months.

This are the info and statistics I found very helpful at the time I got pregnant straight after a mc:

"Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%. A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks to 99.4%. So things could still go wrong, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by"

Good luck!
