HI I have a few questions about IUI. Dr. has told me thats its really not that painfulPainful menstrual periods, but I had HSG dye done and it was very painfulPainful menstrual periods to me and the IUI sounds like the same procedure just sperm not dye. Can anyone explain this to me? We are looking at doing this if we don't get pregnant this month. It is my 3rd round of clomid 50mg and timed I/C. Any advice is welcome

hi there, i hope you still see this... i just noticed your comment today. no, an iui is not the same as the hsg dye. i had the hsg dye too and it was VERY painful for me too. the hsg blows dye thru your tubes. an iui simply deposits your husbands sperm up into your uterus thru a catheter (skinny tube) which they insert up into your vagina. sometimes i felt absolutely nothing at all while doing a iui and sometimes i felt a slight sensation as they inserted the catheter but no pain. more uncomfortable to get a pap smear. i hope you get this. let me know if you have any other questions. good luck!!
