Im worried

I have a 7 month old Grandson, he is a very happy baby, but when he needs to have a bowel movement, He cries in pain and we all feel so helpless and bad for him.
We have taken him to the doctor a few times now and all the dr keeps saying is" If he is having normal stools and he is not constipated or bleeding, he just doesnt like pooping".
I for one find this hard to believe, I have never seen or heard of this before my grandson. If any one has any input or information to share , please respond... Thank You

Well how many days has he gone without a bowel movement?  I know after a certain amount of days, it is dangerous and unhealthy.

Maybe also, you should think about switching a doctor that is more helpful.

Has his movements been "normal." when he does go?  Is he eating a balanced diet?  Maybe try some apple/prune juice (gerber-in little bottles)....or pear juice.....that way, even if he is trying to "hold" it in, he won't have a choice as his body will push it out due to being very regular.

More feedback.

Do they  make stool softners for babies.. Maybe that may be an idea too tyr for a while till he gets over the fear of pooping.  Ask the doctor

Sorry , first time on this site.
Yes he is having regular bowel movements and he is on a balanced diet. I guess the best way to describe him is he is eating like he should , his bowel movements are regular. Its just that when he needs to pass a bowel , he crys and struggles as if he were constipated and you can clearly tell that he is in pain when doing so.
We have tried the prune juices , the dr even had us try Benefiber, and nothing is helping him.
Its so disheartening watching him cry every time he has to go poop :(

Maybe you should follow the advice of giving him a bit of prune juice mixed with water this usually helps tremendously in my experience. Now my two year old eats prunes and apricots and thinks they are just like candy. It's so hard to get them to eat veggies. Just keep trying and make sure you keep track of when he has bowel movements and the consistensy. You may even need to get some glycerin suppositories. Check with your doctor. Oh by the way lots of water too. LOL
