ImmortalOne has question but can't post...about Lilith's sleeping habits

My life is uneventful today so I thought I'd just post for someone else! lol ImmortalOne texted me and asked me to post for her. She is having trouble getting Lilith to sleep anywhere but in her arms! She said she'll put her in the bed once she falls asleep, but she just wakes right up and fusses. When she holds her, she sleeps just fine. She said she'll let her cry for a few minutes when in bed and has tried a pacifier, but doesn't want to let her cry too much and break her trust.

She's convinced that she's created a monster at a very young age! lol I know she'll appreciate any advice on the subject! :)

Try putting her to sleep in her carseat or try using a sleep wedge.  I'm sure Lilith likes the feeling of being close to something.  If that doesn't quite work, throw one of her light-weight blankets in the dryer to warm it up a bit and put that on her when she lays down.  Just make sure you don't overheat her!!

Maybe she could try swaddling her.  It might help her feel more secure.

Ruby- could I get your myspace address? I'd like to be added as a friend.  My name is Sue

i saw a teddy bear at target or walmart( forget which one) but it plays a sound of a heart beat and was supposed to help babies sleep. maybe that kind of thing may help?

If she has a swing, that should work. That is how I got my son to sleep by putting him in his swing (light swinging) with soft music.

There is something called a swaddler. It works wonders from what everyone tells me. She might light it when she holds her cause she feels safe and secure like in the womb. Well with a swaddler you wrap them up tight so they feel safe and secure just like being in the womb again. You can get them at walmart or target or anywhere like that. Hope this helps.

I am in the same boat.  Nothing else will do except for my arms.  In fact I am typing this one handed because I am holding ds and nursing.  It is like my little guy fights sleep at night and nothing I do helps.  He cat naps a lot and wakes easily when put down.  He only sleeps good in my arms.  Maybe this is more to do with their young age and adjusting to life outside of the womb.

I always would take the bassinet in the living room with me and let him sleep on his tummy for naps--I know it is a no-no but that is the only way my little guy would sleep when he was little other than holding him on my chest....at night he would sleep on his back as long as I had him wrapped tight and his hands didn't get out.If they did he would wake up instanly...he would not stay wrapped once I moved him to his crib--so at 10 or 11 weeks he slept on his belly. He is still a good sleeper and he will be three next Saturday.  But in saying htis he was also my baby that would not sleep anywhere but in his bed and sometimes in his car seat..so if we were out and about he would either need to go home or we had a very cranky baby.

i was just reading your response and realized that my son is very much like yours. he was always a belly sleeper, since about 8 or 10 weeks and will not sleep good anywhere but his crib. not even in the bed with us. he is a very light sleeper too. i just had to tell ya - because you hardly every find moms of tummy sleepers.

Tell her to lie on a blanket to get her scent on it and then wrap the baby up in that blanket.  That helped with my eldest daughter.

Finally!  I get to post and take a break (the DH is home to tend to Lilith after working a double shift - God is he awesome).

Anyhow, she likes to sleep on her side, even on my chest.  Or on her belly, so I've been letting her do that with supervision (not with me sleeping or anything.)  I only wanted to co-sleep with her the days that the DH worked or that I worked then hope to get her to sleep in her crib the rest of the time.  She doesn't like to be swaddled, especially if it binds down her hands!  She will fuss and complain if we try.

Have you seen the Nursing Nest by Peaceful Pea? I think it's from the USA as not many places seem to stock them in the UK, it's a nest/support type gadget for feeding /co sleeping and I think can be used as a sleep positioner too, I'm just thinking it may work to get Lilith to sleep if she likes being on her side? The reason I've been looking at it is that I always used to nod off to sleep when feeding my last DD in bed and I worried to death I'd roll on her but this looks fab!
Take a look. It's at: http://www.peacefulpea.com I'm definitely going to get one I think they look really cosy :)
