Increasing HCG after a Miscarriage

Hello I have had a miscarriage may 25 07. I had my HCG levels tested after the miscarriage and they were down, two weeks after my first initial test of the hcgs the level was up again. I am wondering what is going on!!! I was wondering if there is a margin of error on a bhcg quantative. I am having another test done tommorow to see what the levels are at now.  I was wondering what possibilities there are when hcg goes up after a miscarriage, Ps. I have not had my AF yet. could some one please help me????

Have you had unprotected sex again? If you have even though you haven't gotten your AF you could have gotten pregnant again. You ovulate before you have AF. There have been quiet a few women on this site who got pregnant after a miscarriage before their AF ever came. Good luck.

As with the above post I actually had the same thing happen they told me I miscarried and then a few weeks later I found out I was still pregnant. Best Wishes.

You could have been pregnant with twins, and lost only one of the twins.  This happened to a friend of mine, and she now has a healthy, active five-year-old girl.  That could certainly be on possibilty.

I actually started out having a threathened abortion and then a week later I aborted. But since then My hcg has gone down and then just last week i found out it went up.  I will be seeing the doctor and once i find out what is going on with me I will post it. maybe it will help you.

Thank you for your help.  I still really dont know whats going on but i have gone for my blood test and will see the doctor later today.  I am scared but I am hoping for the best. it would be nice to be pregnant again, espically after the loss. my doctor told me last week it is not possible. so i am unsure its really hard to be optomistic when i am getting feedback like that from him. anyways thanks again I will try and keep you all posted of whats going on. bye for now.

Hello, I am new here. I am having the same problem as Ree17. I had a miscarriage (?) last week at 6.5 weeks of being pregnant, but my HCG keeps growing:
3.07: 550
5.07: 640
7.07: 690

The doctor thinks it is an ectopic (and insists on me having a laparoscopy), but I had a lot of bleeding with clots last week and do not have any symptoms of pregnancy any more.

Can anyone help explain what is up with me?

I'm also going through the same thing at the moment.

I went through a miscarriage starting Friday Nov 23. The hospital told me it was an incomplete miscarriage because of light bleeding and that my HCG count was very low. It was 44. I had a ultrasound done the next morning and they found no signs of pregnancy, however they wanted me to come in the following Thursday (Nov. 29) for bloodwork to make sure my hcg count was going down. Well I just heard from my doctor and now my HCG count is up to 288 . What I don't understand is that I've been having heavy bleeding and clotting since Saturday and yet my levels are continuing to rise. My doctor can't tell me why as of yet. I have to go back in for more bloodwork on Monday (Dec. 3) to see if my HCG goes up or down. Anyways does anyone have any advice, words or thoughts on this issue?
