Indegestion

Ugh! I have the WORST indegestion at night. I am 27 weeks and recently it has been worse. No matter what I east during the day, when I lay down to go to sleep at night, I feel like I am going to throw up in my mouth. (sorry, tmi) I am not sick to my stomach as my stomach feels fine and whenever I get the feeling, I take TUMS. The TUMS help the burining sensation in my throat, but I still feel like everything I ate all day is coming back up. Anyone have this problem or have any suggestions? Help would be appreciated.

Have a great day all! <3

Sounds like you may have acid reflux. Call your OB and talk to him about prescribing something for the reflux like reglan. Try sleeping up on a couple of pillows. I know sleeping on your back may be uncomfortable but staying upright and elevated may help keep the acid from entering your esophogus. Try not to eat just before bed. Hope this helps!!!

YES, it's horrible, I'll be in the middle of talking & all the sudden my eyes start watering sooo bad & my throst feels like it's gonna explode. I'm 30 wks,Nothing helps, the DR gave me some meds but I'm a wuss when it comes to meds & being pg so I just sleep horrible at night :) It starts about mid afternoon & just stays, I can wake up at 5am & it's till soo bad LOL I've ate up til midnight & stopped eating by 4pm, neither one helps, Tums only wk for about 2min :) I guess we'll see how much hair these babies have  :) LOL

My doctor says digestive enzymes are safe; they help the food get processed, are just what your body makes (only fewer of while pregnant).

Also itty bitty meals, spread out.

have you tried Zantac? My dr told me to take that instead of Tums (2x a day). I am sooo happy she did! I can sctually go to sleep at night now!

I feel your pain. I have tried everything too. I have acid reflux, even before pregnancy, but pregnancy can really make it so much worse. I have not done the prescription drugs during pregnancy, maybe I'm just a little paranoid too. But I have done the small meals throughtout the day, not eaten past 6pm, sleeping reclined. I feel like I'm an expert on acid reflux and I've heard it all before, but when your pregnant, sometimes it just doesn't work. I take TUMS and they help the most for me. Also, sleeping on the couch where I am almost completely sitting up straight has helped a lot too. Mine kept getting worse from 20 weeks until after my baby dropped a few weeks ago. Now I still get it but its not quite as bad. I'm 38 1/2 weeks now, I can't believe it. Just a little longer. I've been told all the heartburn etc goes away after you have the baby, I sure hope so too.

On top of having major heartburn...sometimes I have this feeling like Im going to throw up, I am 36 weeks 5 days.  Sometime I feel like its coming back up my throat (TMI...Sorry!) but I never throw up.  Ive narrowed it down to acid reflux.  Milk helps to settle it though as well as the heartburn.  Tums dont help me at all!

eat some tums. they are good for you while pg. anyway. I was always told it means your baby's hair is growing. i had it all during my pg's and both of my girls were born with a ton of hair!
