Inducing Labor

Inducing Labor

I desperatly need someone's advice that will work!!

I'm currently pregnant with my 2nd child. I'm 38 weeks today but my belly is measuring a whopping 45 weeks!!! I'm petit in size and with the extra 24lbs I've gained...my body is NOT handeling this pregnancy well at all.
My first pregnancy was a breeze, I LOVED it.
I delivered my first child at 36 weeks so I've never been to the point where I'm at now and I'm having a hard time coping.

I NEED to know a way to induce labor!! I've been struggling with back pain, sciatic nerve pain, pulled muscles & swollen feet for 3 weeks now...and I'm going insane! :o(

I've tried the following to no avail.....

*Castor Oil - twice!
*Making love everyday for the last 3 weeks!!
*Raspberry Tea
*Bumpy ride (well...it wasn't that bumpy because I didn't want to pull anymore muscled)

PLEASE PLEASE someone help me out!!!

Don't try castor oil again.  It can give your baby serious consequences -- cause him or her to poop, and to inhale the meconium into his or her lungs, giving a serious bacterial infection.  When you go in to deliver, tell your doctor that you did this, so the baby's lungs can be checked.

If you are at 38 weeks and that uncomfortable, talk to your doctor and see if he or she is willing to induce.  I cannot imagine any ob-gyn who would refuse someone who is totally miserable at this point in pregnancy.

I agree, the only thing to do is to speak with your doctor. Inducing your own labor can be very dangerous for you and baby.

I understand completely about being uncomfortable, I think every pregnant woman can. I had polyhydramnios with my 2nd and 3rd boys, measuring 5-7 weeks ahead from 27 weeks on. I have a picture of myself at 32 weeks and I look overdue, it was awful.

Be patient, I know it stinks, but it is safer than doing something on your own.

Oh, believe me, a doctor will refuse at 38 weeks!  I am amost 39 weeks and am dilated to a 4.5 and have been having contractions for over a week and they STILL will not induce.  I'm about in your boat. At 38 weeks I measured 41 weeks and I have a petite frame too.  I have just tried the good old walking thing, sex, and having a few stern talks with my doc. all of which have not worked. They did agree to induce on Monday so 4 days from now I will be in the hospital having little man but it's been a LONG uncomfortable two weeks. I too had polyhydramnios like AndiJ78 with my last baby and THAT was uncomfortable. I was HUGE beyond belief.  I thought he was going to come out weighing 16 pounds!  Nope, just lost a ton of fluid.

I agree, be patient- as hard as I know it is because I'm soo in your boat and not a happy camper either.  Definately have a talk with your doc. and let him/her know what all is going on.  Maybe you'll have better luck than me! LOL!
