Infant constipation

I have an 8 month granddaughter that crys whenever she has a BM. What can I do for her?

1/2 apple juice mixed with 1/2 prune juice - works everytime!  Even recommend by pediatricians.

My friends baby is also constipated and her pediatrician said to mix some sugar with water and give it to the baby.

Karo Surpe Works great.  Get the dark.  I just used it for my two week old.  Dr. said it was good to use.  Just put a tsp. in the bottle - do three times a day. It only took two days and Ryan was fine.

Also remember that this is all very new for them- the feeling of going, gas, just having a yucky diaper,etc can cause them to cry - not necessarily meaning there's something wrong. I think all too often people think infants are constipated when they don't go as often as we do. Especially if she eats breastmilk, baby will be fine w/out our interference. It is not abnormal for them to not go everyday. Signs of constipation are hard, drier stools. If they're wet and soft , then don't change or give her anything extra- her body's working fine.
