Inhaled steriods and pregnancy

by sparky168, May 15, 2006 12:00AM
I have asthma pretty bad so I have to take Flovent which is an inhaled steriod.  Does anyone know if this is dangerous to take while pregnant?  Can it cause miscarriage?  I have had 2 miscarriages in the past 4 months.

I am wondering the same thing. I am on advair. What a great question. I will be sure to pay attention to how people answer. I am just ttc and not pregnant yet but I also have allergies. I am on singulair and zyertec.

i have asthma and mine got worse when i got pregnant and i take proventil and i take pulmicort and zyrtec for allergies.  I am supposed to take a nasal inhaler...flonase too but i dont..i figure I am on enough stuff..no matter what they say...i just know its important to be able to breathe so your baby is breathing.  and i think most of the things out there are in the B category which means studies really havent been done but its considered pretty safe from animal studies.

I switched from Advair to Pulmicort because Pulmicort is the only one with the "B" safety rating for pregnant women (Advair is "C"). But it's not as effective for me for the asthma. I use the Albuterol inhaler too. I have had 2 m/c in 4 months also but think it's chromosomal (i'm 43). Dr. says no other reason for the m/c (after all those special blood tests they do). They have told me it's still better to control the asthma cause they KNOW that bad asthma is worse for pregnancy.
