Is Jacob too popular to name my baby due in June?

Is Jacob too popular to name my baby due in June?

My husband and I are undecided about names and although I like other names too, the only name we both seem to like is Jacob, but is it too popular these days? Even if it is very popular, then do you still like it? I have a unique name so don't know how that might feel like if in a classroom having other students named the same as me!

If you are in love with the name go for it, he'll be ok, We like  the name Kooper for a boy.  Simple yet not overly used, and just too cute

My son is called Jacob (Jake for short) it wasn't that popular 9 years ago. But since i have met 5-7 people with there boys called Jacob also.

I still think it's a fab name.

If you love it, go with it. I know 4 Jacobs born in the last 3 years :)

I think it's cute, also! I taught preschool for 6 years and had around 5 of them. But that was over a 6 year period......go for it! :)

i'd say you can't win either way as far as popular or unique names... if your kid gets a popular one they hate it, and if they get a unique one they hate it... just give one of each (first and middle) so they can pick when they get older.  otherwise you can't possibly win...
all this coming from a Jennifer from the early 70s.  if you took my house and the closest 5 in my neighborhood as a kid there was Jenny Ann, Jenny Lynn, Jenny ??, Johhnny, Joey, and Julie.  I once had a class in HS of 12 people, and 10 of us were Jennifers.  So I named my older son Abner....  LOL  But I was kind enough to give him David as a middle name in case he hates me for it.
I will add tho (since it is what drew me to this thread) that my new baby is named Daniel Jacob.   (was going to be just Jacob, but we switched it for reasons unknown to either one of us one day about 4 months before the birth.)

It is VERY popular, but if you like it, don't let the popularity stop you from naming your son that name. Your son will be his own very unique Jacob anyhow :)

Thanks for all your comments. Funny that right after I posted my question about naming my baby Jacob that another woman had just posted her announcement of her baby being born and named Jacob Patrick! So many Jacobs in this world, but hopefully not a problem being so popular. I like Ryan too and wish you best for that name, but I only am not considering it b/c it's the name for one of my family members. Keep the comments coming for Jacob as I'm still undecided! :)

If you like it-go for it!
Me and my husband both like the name Ryan and I was worried about the same thing, but it's a cute name, we like it and that's all that matters !!!

My ds is in little league. There are around 12 kids on his team and three of them are Jacobs...all three of them are in the same grade. There are a total of 6 teams and there are more Jacobs amongst them. It all depends if you are willing to chance more than one, two or more kids with the same first name in your kids classroom. DH and I love the name Emily but I don't think we'll use it because of how popular the name is... My sister hated that she had two other Jenny's in her class. She felt like she faded in the background with her name so she did some crazy things to stand out. Good luck with your decision!
