Is anyone having/had an amnio?

Is anyone having/had an amnio?   I had one during my first pregnancy and it was fine.    I'm recommended to have one because I will be 38 when I deliver and the rate of Down's is higher.  I would keep the baby if something was wrong.  I am scheduled to have one in two weeks, but I'm starting to worry about the 1 in 200 miscarriage rate.  What do you all think?

I had one at 16 weeks with this pregnancy. I did it as my quad screen came back increased risk of downs and I am 34 years old.  I asked my doctor what his success rate was and he said in 25 years of him performing the amnio he had only 1 loss and this was due to the bag rupturing from the needle. So I felt confident based on his track record that I would be in safe hands.
I do not blame you for wanting one. I chose to do it so I would know what to expect if he did have downs... Turns out he is perfectly healthy and I am now 24 weeks.

Best of luck with your decision!!   Also did your labs come back as an increased risk or did you opt not to do them since you are leaning towards an amnio?

I opted out of the lab tests because last time, my quad screen came back like yours did and my husband and I worried so much until the amnio said there was no downs.

I will be asking the doctor her success rate like you did.  Thank you for your advice.
