Is clomid ok?

by Betty P, May 20, 2005 12:00AM
Hi,  I am worried.  I just had a D&C on Monday, my baby passed at seven weeks.  I was supposed to be 13 weeks.  I also had a miscarriage a year prior with a blighted ovum.  I took a year each time just to get pregnant.  I do not have regular periods and half the time I do not ovulate.  The Dr. said he will put me on Clomid after my first regular cycle since the D&C.  Has this worked for anyone else.  I am so scared of the same thing happening again.  I am so hurt and depressed about my two losses, I don't know that I can handle that again.  Please let me know if anyone has gotten pregnant using clomid and if all was ok.

I had a missed miscarriage in Nov 2003, then had difficulty becoming pregnant. Like you, my cycles were irregular and I wasn't sure if I was ovulating. In July 2004, I took Clomid. I got pregnant the first cycle and now I have a 6 week old little girl! Clomid worked for me! I would try it. It is really inexpensive and it's worth a try. For me, I had no side effects. Best wishes to you.

Thank you so much Kristen, It was really great to hear that great news.  I will try Clomid on my second cycle.  Wish me luck.

I'm so sorry for your losses, I know how much it hurts. When I was trying to conceieve after my miscarriage it seemed like I would never have a baby. I was really unhappy and stressed. I can't even tell you how blessed I feel to have my little girl. Keep your faith up, you know you can get pregnant, so that is a plus! You will have a baby in your future, I just know it. You wouldn't believe the number of people on this forum who have had miscarriages and infertility problems. I have watched person after person get pregnant and go on to have healthy pregnancies. Keep us posted, good luck, and I hope and pray that you are the next BFP (big fat positive)!

i was on clomid for 4 months it did nothing for me...except make me moody and have hot flashes....like you i was not ovulating...we then went to follistem injections only did those a few months no go there either. i will say the clomid did help get my period back more normal but my eggs were never big enough to fertilized. i will also tell you we got pregnant on our own when we decided to take a break from it all. she was born in Jan.:) try and relax don't get consumed.

As far as I am concerned, Clomid is a God-send!  I tried forever to get pregnant with my first child, and finally tried Clomid.  It worked the very first month!  I used Clomid again for my second daughter and, again, got pregnant right away.  I have two beautiful and perfectly healthy angels that were both conceived with Clomid.  I am forever greateful and never had a single side effect.  Both pregnancies were perfect.  In fact, I'll definitely use it again if I need to.  I hope it works as well for you!!  Good luck!!

Hi, I just wanted to post my experience with clomid.  I was on it for a year and never got pregnant.  I went to a fertility doctor after one year of trying to get pregnant with clomid.  They told me clomid is great if you get pregnant within the first 3 months.  If you do not get pregnant, then it starts to form a wall and makes it impossible to get pregnant.  Best of luck to you, I hope it works for you.  If it doesn't then you may want to call your doctor if it has been awhile.

Hi - I had a D&C last week (9 wks), second (Jan,11 wks) one this year. I am exactly where you are...mentally and physically. I am also over 40. My next step is the Chlomid Challenge. How long did you wait before ttc again? I have more than one friend who has success with it.  Please keep us updated. May God bless you and your little to be!!
