Is there a such thing as TOO MANY vitamins?

Is there a such thing as TOO MANY vitamins?

Good evening ladies! I have a vitamin question for you all. Can you take too many vitamins? I am currently taking prenatal vitamins but took a break for a week because they make me sooooo sick! My doctor suggested taking 2 flinstone vitamins which confused me but i took her advice. Due to me being a worry wart i am back on the prenatals starting today and i took one plus took e flinstone vitamins this morning. Can i still take both or do i have to choose? Will too many vitamins harm my baby? I'm learning and reading too much on the net and freaking myself out lol. I just learned too much vitamin a is bad too!

you absolutely can take too many vitamins...HOWEVER, I think that you're still at a safe level. something UNSAFE would be like 8-10 a day...your body requires certain levels of vitamins and minerals to function and too many of anything vital (such as potassium, magnesium, or calcium) can affect things as basic as your heart function...potassium is actually the drug they use in IVs to administer the death penalty! it's not anesthesia it's potassium, lol.

but like I said....I think you're alright.I personally would take the flinstones. they are a perfectly acceptable substitute for prenatals (recommended by OBs all over the place :) ) and they are way gentler on your system....if you take the flinstones AND the regular vitamins you may end up constipating yourself! but no I don't think you took a dangerous amount sweetie it takes a LOT of vitamins to take too many, but I would still choose one or the other, and I don't think you took anywhere near enough to hurt yourself or the baby so rest easy and don't worry :).

hope this helps some :)
