Is this ok to take?

Is this ok to take?

I have had 5 M/C and 3 L/B... I recall the doctor telling me to remember to take the folic acid. Well I am TTC now and figured I better start now. I found it at the stor in 400 and 1000 mg then I saw the prenatal pills and there is 800 of FA in it so I bought them. I am going to start taking them instead. They have alot of what we need when PG and I am TTC do you think it will be ok.

Prenatals are great! I took them the entire time I was ttc. If you need more than what's in them, your dr will give you prescritopn ones. Good Luck and Baby Dust!

Are you sure the measurement isn't micrograms (mcg)??  800 mg is way too much!!!  800 mcg is a very good amount .  My prenantals that are prescription have 1 mg.

I read that it is recommended for any woman of child-bearing age to take folic acid, even if they are on birth control. There are instances, though rare, that women get pregnant while on birth control.

I took the prenatals which had the folic acid in them, and also took folic acid.  If there has been a problem with previous babies that calls for excess folic acid (I think spina bifida) they actually have you take up to 4,000 mcgs/day before getting pregnant, but since I had not had that problem, my doc said just to take 1,000 mcgs/day.  The excess if any leaves your body b/c folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin.

I took the FA before so I figured it would not hurt now. :)

my dr. gave me premesis for extra folic acid.  call your dr. for a prescription for a good prenatal rather than the stores.  the prenatals give you all you will need.
