Jet lag and schedules for infants

Jet lag and schedules for infants

My son is 3 months old and next week we are traveling back home to Canada from Europe to visit the family. We will lose 8 hours. I read that I should keep his feeding and sleep schedule as usually. Has anyone had any experience with their young ones and jet lag?

Very recently we had the 8 hour time shift with my two when we went to UK from Canada. I basically just let then sleep, eat etc when they wanted with no expectations on getting them time shifted quickly but they adapted to the time change within a day or two. I went back a couple of years ago when my youngest was 11 months old, he found it more difficult that time as he was younger but I took the same approach, if he was hungry we fed him if he was tired we let him sleep. Some mornings he was wide awake at 4am but I just kind of slept when he did and it worked out fine.

Thanks for the input. I found an article on tips at preventing/surriving jet lag for newborns and infants. It says that when travelling West to put you baby to bed and hour later each night for at least 3 days before you fly. And hopefully they "sleep late" too. We will try this and see if it helps, at least it could not hurt.
