Just Wondering

There was a movie on Family Channel over the last weekend (Channel 40 in my area) named A Half Dozen Babies or something very close to this.  It was about a couple trying to conceive without success and over the years tried a drug with multiple births as a possibility.  Well they did and they had 6 babies and it was basically about trying to conceive and the first few months of the babies lifes.  I guess my question is if you saw the movie, is it pretty "real to life"?  The doctor mentioned Clomid so I was just wondering.  LOL

My experiences with higher order multiples has been heartbreaking and often tragic.  I think those stories don't get put on some nice TV show.

Generally--TV only wants the "happy endings".  High order multiple pregnancy is most often a disaster.  Not saying it can't work out (obviously, in rare cases it does) but it can and should be prevented by carefully regulating the fertility drugs/treatments used, and by careful attention to the number of developing follicles.

I agree with Christie, TV doesn't show the darker side of those stories. There is a very good reason why when it does work out with a happy ending, you hear about it for years (the sextuplets from a few years back are still in the news).

They are working on better technology to avoid the higher order multiple pregnancies. My understanding is clomid has less chance of producing multiple follicles, therefor reducing the chance of getting pg with a "litter" so to speak. Even with IVF, they are usually putting fewer embryos in as the technology improves. My cousing went through IVF with 2 embryos and she is now pg with twins.

Just my 2 cents, not worth much today : )

I believe the drug was perganol. I could be thinking of another movie about sextuplets but I think that was the injectable fertility drug that was used. Makes me scared to ever take perganol. I have little preterm babies to start with. I can't imagine having success in carrying more than maybe 2 and even then I would probably be in the hospital the last 2 months of my pregnancy because with singles I only go 37weeks. My last 2 have been exactly 21 days early. 4lbs. 9oz. and 5lbs 7oz. That is just my 2 cents. Helen

I hear you on the "again" thing.........LOL
Talon seems to be hungry 20 minutes after he eats, especially if he falls asleep for 10 minutes or so he wakes up thinking he needs to eat....LOL

I have a question you can answer.....

No, not if I'm prego or not. Although I've not felt very good today but I'm sure that is nothing....

Question being.....
Are the boys too young to fake cough?????
When Talon had a slight cold a couple weeks ago we would kinda cough with him and then laugh to keep him from getting upset about the whole coughing thing and now he seems to be faking it. His coughs sound soooooooo fake. Sometimes you can tell that they are the real thing but other times it seems like he just does it to get you to look at him or say something to him.....is he too young to be doing that?

Also, you might find this funny.......
I started sticking my tongue out at Talon a couple weeks ago because he would focus on my tongue bar and laugh.......well.......guess who is now ALWAYS sticking their tongue out?!?!? I feel awful now because that is one of the things I always yelled at my older boy for when he was 4 or 5 years old......lol

Okay, so answer my question about the coughing thing and then you can feel totally useful again.......;)

Vikki

Totally, Tristan does it too (the fake cough) : ) As far as the tongue thing, they actually did a study years ago that showed infants as young as 1 day old would imitate facial expressions like a tongue sticking out. I have been doing it with Tristan since he was hours old and he still does it : )

Thanks for letting me feel useful again, I feel like lately all I am here for is food (both breastfeeding and preparing for my older boys, dh and ds) and diaper changes, lol.

Hey girl, I hear you on the 'only being needed for the food' thing too.....
I just fed Talon and am getting ready to go make dinner for my ds. Dh will eat later when he gets home from class (between 10 and midnight)
Oh, I almost forgot......I feel useful in one other way......I'm getting an 'A' in dh's Art History class (for him).....ROFL
I'm writing all his papers for him (geezzzz...I hope his professors wife isn't on this board..LOL)

I don't think the drug they used on that show was clomid, although I could be wrong. I seen it and if I remember she was giving herself shots of something and clomid is a pill (I'm sure you know that). I don't know what she was taking.

Silly girl, I am willing to bet you aren't : ) Just a feeling I have...lol.

Just one of those times I guess, not really depressed, just too busy being mommy and wife. Speaking of, my little man is hungry...again!

I couln't wait to tell you all, I got a BFP today!!! I woke up at 4:30AM and I couldn't wait to test. So this time I got a 2nd line within 3 minutes. It's still faint, but it's there! I'm going to go get a blood test today. I am so happy, but this doesn't seem real yet. I hope I'm not dreaming! This is the same month I got pregnant in last year, my body must like August! I'll write again to let you know what the blood test results are. Thank you all so much for all your support and encouraging words the past year.

Bailee and Tresmathews, If I can get pregnant, so can you!! Keep faith!

I'm going to try get some sleep now, hahaha, but I probably will just lay awake smiling! ~Kristen
