Ayla is constipated and the ped. told me to either give her prunce juice or water or put karo syrup in her bottle to get her bowels moving because she is REALLY irregular so I would have to do it everyday.. so I chose to put Karo syrup in her formula... My question is how much do I put? A teaspoon? And how often a day? Once a day?? Anyone else done this with their littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys one? Any advice?
I did the karo syrup and it is 1tsp in every bottle. The only thing with this is that you cant use it for a long period of time ...prune juice either. Your baby has to eventually be able to have a bowel movement with out assistance. I did it for a week or so several times. Then I would do every other day when he started getting more regularRegular insulin. Not too long after we started food so we were able to clearClear by design Clear eyes Clear eyes acr Clear eyes clr Clear-atadine Clear-atadine children's up the constipation.
None of it has seemed to work for Ethan. He hates prune juice so we fed him prunes. He now hates those too! We try to give him apple juice in his bottles and a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys on the side. He seemed to start going more frequent but it is hard as rocks! I am going to ask the Dr again the next visit I have.
you can also use apricot's or peaches. Those will help too if they are eating those yet. The peaches really helped my dd when she was a baby I would give it to her with her cereal in the moring and then with her lunch too. You can give them one jar a day I would split it 1/2 in the moring and 1/2 at lunch. Hope that help's.
Are you sure she is really constipated? 4-5 days between bowel movements can be normalNormal saline flush. If they aren't hard, and she isn't in any pain, then I wouldn't do anything about it if I were you. I would avoid using karo syrup if possible.
four to five days thats not goodi would give the baby karol syrup like i said it helps trust me my son has the biggest issues with going to the bathroom he actually cries and holds his breath when he goes becuz its been hard and it makes him go soft and frequently its awesome
i did the karo syrup and it worked wonders for my first dd. she was the same way. wouldn't go for several days and i felt so bad for her. they say this is normal for up to 7 days, but be honest, would we feel good if we went that long without having a bowel moment....not me! my dd is two now and she is just now getting away from all of that, thank god, b/c we had a time with her. she would always cry when going, when the time would finally come. the karo syrup helped make it softer and it seemed to work about 15 minutes to an hour afterwards each time. prune juice works too, but if you are feeding her baby food, try feeding her the actual prunes. these worked better for us! i always took the karo syrup and used a toothpick and dipped it in there and put about one to two drops in her formula. my mother in law said applesauce always worked for her when she had my dd. the ped told me to try apple juice as well. hth
oh with the apple juice..they said to give them an ounce for how old they were, so my dd was 3 months at the time so she would have 3 ounces of apple juice (but i would mix it with water so it wasn't so sweet) and you could do this up to two times a day. this worked for my second dd
im with houseofgirls. is your baby breastfed or formula fed? if she isnt in pain or complaining or struggling to poop maybe its just how often she needs to go.
I used karo syrup for my son and it worked wonders. I nursed so i used it with water. i would just cover the bottom of the bottle and fill the bottle with water... This is also great for getting rid of the hicups... He would get them everyday and would get mad so I would give him the water with karo syrup for a min and they were gone right away... Let me also say he is older now and loves to drink water... He will choose water over koolaid any day so it has several benefits...
If her stools arent hard and she isnt struggling to go I wouldnt give her Karo syrup. Once she starts on solids you can just try to give her more apples and pears. But that could just be her system!
