Keep waking up on my back--22 weeks

Keep waking up on my back--22 weeks

Does anyone else have this problem? I know we are not supposed to sleep on our backs after 16 weeks, and I do fall asleep on my side, but a few times a night I wake up on my back.
Is it extrememly dangerous or just better not to?

I think it's just better not to and it's an extra percaution.
I had the same problem with my DD almost 3 yrs ago and now with this new pregnancy....17 weeks and I just can't sleep on my side....at all.

I asked the dr and she didn't seem to think it was necessary just a strong suggestion from the drs.

I asked my mom (who is a nurse) about this.  I told her I couldn't sleep at night because I am only supposed to sleep on my side.  She thinks I'm crazy.  She said people have been sleeping on thier backs and having healthy babies for years.  I guess that makes sense.  I still get worried.

I'm 35 weeks and I am always sleeping on my back.

My Dr. advised me that when I find myself waking up on my back, it's usually because it's my bodys way of telling me to roll back to my side, or to use the bathroom. LOL.

There hasn't been any problems with the baby and me sleeping on my back.  I do roll back to my side when I find myself on my back.  I did have an US at 30 weeks to check my placentas position, and at that time when we measured the baby again, she was as healthy as she could be.

I'm 19 weeks, and showing....and still sleep on my back or stomach.  I hate sleeping on my side.  I followed ALL the rules w/my first.  But, this is my third, and I'm a lot more relaxed about it.  The best thing for the baby and me is how much sleep I get!!!!

I'm 35w6d and I can't sleep on my back since I was 20 weeks, because the baby is so heavy I feel like he's putting a lot of pressure on all my organs. I always wake up either on my right or on my left side. It amazes me how other pregnant ladies sleep on their backs and feel comfortable:)

I slept on my back no problem with my first pregnancy, and partway thru my second, but as the second was twins it did eventually become uncomfortable to lay on my back while awake.  Inevitably though, I would wake up on my back every time.  Some of us just can't help it...

I agree it's just too uncomfortable and feels like my organs are getting squished to lay on my back, but if you are waking up on your back and it concerns you, why don't you wedge a pillow behind you? It would make it harder to roll over. Maybe give it a try.

I'm 33w1d and I wake up sometimes on my back also.  It is not very often.  I seem to lean towards my left side but now a days I can't sleep worth a ****!!  I don't even sleep a full two hours - at least it is getting me use to getting up in the middle of the night :-)

Thanks everyone. It's so good to hear others experiences and opinions when you are concerned about something.
There are so many little things we have to worry about when we are pregnant and it starts to drive you crazy. No lunchmeat, no back sleeping, no coloring your hair, don't stand too close to the miccrowave....etc.etc.etc..
It's good to know you aren't alone.
Luv you guys!!!!

I agree with you! There is SO much to worry about that it's insane! I asked my doc about laying on my back. He said that, really, in a bed with pillows it is no biggie AT ALL. He said laying flat on your back on a concrete floor may be a bad thing but who does that anyways?! lol

I just figure.....look at all the junk our parents did and we all turned out fine! :)

My hips really hurt, so I hate sleeping on my sides.  My doctor told me to put a pillow under one hip, so that I'm on my back but tilted.
