LOW PROGESTERONE

by luvmyfamily3, Apr 03, 2009 10:26PM
I have had 2 m/c in the past and 1 healthy pregnancy. During my healthy pregnancy I had bleeding at 13 wks and had a healthy boy at term. I am now pregnant again. Right at 6wks. My doc drew my progesterone levels, as this is their policy on anyone who has had a previous m/c. my level was 7.2, so they gave me prometrium 100mg x2 a day to boost my levels. im freaking but she didnt seem too worried about it b/c i havent had any bleeding and my breast are still super sore. I never had my levels checked b4 cause i didnt know anything about it. Both of my m/c were really early like 5 days after a pos HPT. Anyone else had low progesterone and been ok? I havent went 4 u/s yet. It took me a year to get pregnant and Im 25. Im super irregular and i wonder if low progesterone is something that is onset or something ive always had since i had those 2 m/c early and had such a had time getting pregnant. Ive read that alot of peeps with fertility issues have had low progesterone.

With my son I had low progesterone.. they put me on crinone (progesterone suppository).  It took it from 6wk through the first trimester and my son is now over a year old.

congrats and good luck to you!!

I had low progesterone and believed to have m/c my first pregnancy due to that.  My second pregnancy got on sups and I now have a healthy 15 month old.
It sounds like that could have been your problem all along.  It is such an easy fix, but you either need a doctor to test you for it or you have to be very aggressive in asking your Dr for it.  I am suprise they dont check for every pregnancy.

The low progesterone is probably something you've always had-it is very common.  Like a previous poster mentioned, it really should be checked on EVERY pregnant woman.

I had low progesterone with my last pregnancy and my progesterone level was about the same as yours.  I was put on Prometrium too, same dose as you, and took it until 10 weeks (I had to stop it because I had severe hyperemesis and it was thought it was contributing to it).  My daughter is here, healthy and happy and is 14 months old.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you get to bring home a healthy baby!
