Level II ultrasound

Level II ultrasound

I am 20 weeks pregnant and I am scheduled to have a Level II ultrasound on Thursday.   What can I expect from this.   They are completing a Level II ultrasound because my regular ultrasound showed that the fluid around my baby's brain was a little more than normal.   The doctor seemed confident that everything else was okay but they have to check everything when it does not measure correctly.   I am not worried about what they will find because I am confident that my baby is healthy but curious to know if anyone else was sent for a Level II and everything came out normal.  I was also told that a  Level II ultrasound is a lot clearer than a regular ultrasound.

I had one simply b/c I am over 35yr. They checked thoroughly all the structures and pointed things out- brain, kidneys, stomach, bladder, circulation, and so much more. They look for clues that associated w/ Downe's (such as the little finger bone, nasal area, and neck). I found it very reassuring and was happy to find out the sex, too!

I had it in my both pregnancies. The first time, I was told that the amnio fluid around the fetus is too much and he might either have a birth defect or he will be a big baby, like 10 lbs. Well, the results were normal and the baby is normal and he was just 6 lbs 15 oz!!! They were WRONG! The second time was 2 wks ago just for more info. and everything was perfect, also I had amnio test and all the results came back great on my birthday. Level II u/s gives you info about almost any birth defect in the baby. You will get the chance to count the perfect ten toes!!!! Enjoy it and I will pray for your little one. Do you know what you are having?

Are they talking about too much fluid around the brain or the fetus?  Did they mention hydrocephalus to you?  That is basically "water on the brain".  My son was born with that.
With him I had A LOT of level II ultrasounds!  They are awesome!  You can REALLY see the baby!  Drink or eat something before hand so you can see your little one move around.
Did you get the quad testing done?  Did that come out normal?
If your baby does have hydrocephalus (or any other condition)  then feel free to contact me.  I understand what it's like to have a child that will need special attention.
I hope it turns out that everything is ok!!
Let us know what the results are on Thursday!

Thank you all for your comments.   Yes, I was told I am having a girl.    They said that there is too much fluid around the brain but it is borderline and mild.   They called it fetal ventriculostomy.   I took the Quad test and everything came back negative for Down Syndrome and Spina Bifida that that was a blessing.    I will let each of you know the results tomorrow when I get back.   I have to drive 3 hrs to see the doctor who will perform the ultrasound but it is well worth the drive.

I had the same thing. I was sooo worried! I had to go back 4 weeks later and everythign was fine. My dr. told me that if the results were positive for the quad test I would have something to worry about. But since they were negative everything would be ok. He was right! Bst of luck to you!!
