Hi there! i was just reading old posts looking for stuff on ectopicEctopic pregnancy. I noticed your situation was very similar to mine. I just had surgery on wednesday..they started with a d&c and were going to "rule out" ectopicEctopic pregnancy by testing, etc..but there was so much blood everywhere they knew something had ruptured and went in to look anyways and found an ectopicEctopic pregnancy. i don't remember much but i think she said "i didn't damage your tube". My levels were rising, same as yours..on wednesday this week it was just over ten thousand..they did get my progesterone up to 19 (it started at 9.9 and then to 9.5. Were you also on progesterone supps? THANKS! =)
I wasn't put on progesterone suppositories. Before they could rule in or out an ectopicEctopic pregnancy, one of the doctors in my practice (not my main doctor) said that because my progesterone was low to start with they would give me suppositories. But then because my numbers really weren't normalNormal saline flush, my doctor told me that no way would he give me progesterone suppositories until they knew for certain I didn't have an ectopicEctopic pregnancy because progesterone suppositories can be very dangerous with an ectopic. I believe (but can't remember exactly) that it can cause the ectopic to grow much quicker and rupture much quicker). Because they kept not seeing anything in the uterus, he told me that no matter what, I wasn't getting them.
They were able to positively diagnose an ectopic only after they did a D & C in the office with no anesthesia and right away they took blood for hcg (at that point, they didn't even care about progesterone levels), and then immediately the next morning they ran hcg again. Because the numbers continued to rise, and there was no pregnancy tissue left in the uterus, it meant I had to be pregnant somewhere else.
I had methotrexate on June 20th and surgery on June 26th. The methotrexate didn't work (my hcg at 11,500 was too high) and they finally found the thing in my left tube the day they brought me in for surgery, which was also the day that they took blood to see if the MTX (methotrexate) worked. By the way, 3 weeks almost to the day after surgery I had a "mini-period" which lasted 3 days and was not heavy at all. They didn't consider that my period, and I have just finished my first regular cycle following the surgery, which came at 6 weeks and 5 days after the surgery. The only thing that was different was the ovulation before the period was very painful (I thought I had a urinary tract infection) which felt like pressure in my lower pelvis -- which is actually a symptom of a UTI, but my cultures were negative -- and the period on days 2 and 3 was heavier but nothing to write home about. The cramping was similar to what I used to get before I got pregnant with my son (since I gave birth to him almost 5 years ago I almost never get menstrual cramps).
