Lost the b(umbilical)belly button?

My little guy lost his belly button (umbilical)today, still has some redess inside the belly button with a little crusty dried blood,cant remember if this is supposed to be like that still?

It sounds normal, Liliths pediatrician told me to put some peroxide on there to help keep it dry and clean.

Considering he lost his and Lilith lost hers, I think it is a little different.  It is just needing to keep the belly button clean and dry now, not the cord itself.  They did used to say to use alcohol and a q-tip on the umbilical cords not too long ago, but that did change.

Some peds say use alcohol, some don't.  Either way is probably fine, although I'm sure the ped has some preference for one or the other method.  A little redness with some crusty dried blood (just a dot or two) is ok.
