Low Fetal Heart Rate

Low Fetal Heart Rate

I know the standard fetal heart rate is between 120 - 160.  Does anyone know how severe it is if the heart rate is only 95?

I am 7 weeks 4 days pg.  This is my second pregnancy, I miscarried last year about the same week.  On the ultrasound yesterday, the fetus measured 5mm.  I am scheduled for another ultrasound in one week but I can't wait that long for answers.

Thanks for your help,
Stephanie

Hi!
Hopefully I can help calm your nerves. I had a u/s around this time and the fetal heart rate was low, but my Dr. said not to worry - that this is the time when the heart is first learning how to beat, which would explain the speed. it should quicken up in the coming weeks.
Hope this helps :)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but since you want honesty.....I had a miscarriage last Sept.  At 6 weeks, the fetal heartrate was 91, and my doctor was concerned.  I went in the following week and there was no heartbeat at all.  From what I read at the time, there is a small percentage of pregnancies with low fetal heartrates that correct themselves and go on to term.  I don't mean to scare you, but this is my experience.  I hope it all works out for you.  It is very stressful to be in the "not knowing" stage.  Please let us know the outcome, and we are here to support you whether it is good news or bad.

Wow!  You guys are great.  You obviously know how I feel.  I really don't know what I expected to hear, maybe wishful thinking that someone would tell me I was being paranoid.  I'm prepared for the worse case scenario although I haven't given up hope.  I had a dream last night that the next ultrasound counted the heart rate higher.  At least I still feel pregnant (tender breasts, queasy/nausea, tired, etc).  If those signs start disappearing I'll be a wreck.

My due date based on my LMP is September 9th, but the ultrasound calculated September 19th.  We'll see???

Thanks for all the wonderful information, I hope I can give you all good news and when it we hear about it again we can offer a little hope to the next worried mom.
