Low HCG level

My wife's(Age 26 years) last period's first date was 5th January,2008.
On 13th February, 08 we have done the beta hcg test and that is 195. Doctor is saying it is very low.

Please suggest what to do.

The hcg test has be done twice within approx. 48 hours. If the value doubles or nearly doubles, you are on the right track. What does the doctor suggest otherwise ?

AS for myself when I found out I was preggo,the Dr. sent me to get my Hcg checked again,nurse came back & said it wasn't doubling like it should,sent me again it was almost doubling,but not quite there.I had a mc @9w.But i have heard success stories,hopefully yours will be another one.GOOD LUCK.

The first number means nothing. It's the 48 hour follow up test that gives what the doctor needs. It should double to about 400 in this time. My first HCG test was only 67. Ask the doctor to check progesterone level, this is why I miscarried, not due to HCG levels. (Though this is important as well).

Have your wife had a second HCG test done? I'm exact the same as your wife.  Last period 1/5/08 and on my first test my level was 194(2/7/08) then my second test it was 611 on (2/12/08). I have a dr appointment on 3/3 and will have u/s done to see if anything is okay.

My first hcg level was 143 but two days later it was 623. She needs to have a second test to make sure it is doubling.
