Low Rising HCG levels

by mindyrn, Aug 02, 2003 12:00AM
From my calculations I am 3 weeks 4 days from lmp, 2 weeks 4 days from conception.  Had mild spotting last Friday which caused me to due hpt which was positive.  Had blood test Monday which showed HCG level at 600.  Thursday night had mid abdominal cramping for about an hour followed by mild spotting of dark brown.  Called my doctor who did another HCG on Friday.  This time it was 705.  My TSH is normal also.  My question is, should my HCG have doubled or am I too early to use that rule of thumb?    I don't have any sign of pregnancy either.  Today was the first day I have been more tired than mormal, my breasts do not hurt, and I haven't had any morning sickness that I can speak of.  She is going to do another HCG on Monday and probably an US as well.  Is it to early to do an US?

Based on the info here, I'd guess that an U/S is useless at this point - I'm told they can't see much before 6 weeks along... especially if the HCG is lower than it should be.  But ask them all your questions - if you continue having symptoms and low rising HCG they may just send you for a few U/S in a row.  I ended up having 3 within a month...

Thanks for the information.  Did your US correlate with your HCG?

They did 3 U/S for me, and couldn't see anything for any one of the U/S.  Nothing in the uterus, nothing in the tube.  But the HCG kept rising.  So they thought it could be an ectopic that couldn't be seen yet... but then I got more bleeding a couple of weeks later, and finally the HCG began to decline.  As far as they know the HCG never got above 300.
