Low heartbeat 5 weeks 4 days

I have just had an ultrasound and was surprised to see the baby's heartbeat so early!  I have also been having a bit of bleeding and so was a little concerned. The obs at the screening centre told me that the heartbeat was 90bpm and that it was low and if it was any lower he would query my ability to go full term (talk about bedside manner...)  Has anyone else had such a low beat and delivered a healthy baby??  I am trying to remain positive.

How many weeks were you at the time of the sonogram?

Ignore that last question. I had a sonogram done at 6 weeks and it was 113 and my doctor told me that has long as it was 80 or better then everything looked looked good and I am now almost 13 weeks and doing very well. I think that is a good number.

Please please don't worry -- MANY people don't even SEE a heartbeat at 5w4d.... it is normal to have a heartbeat between 90-110 until almost 7 weeks along. You are fine.

At 7 weeks my babies heartbeat was 93. They thought I was probably really 6 weeks. I had a healthy baby girl. Yours sounds just fine.

I was just in your place not too long ago!  I went back a week later and the heartbeat had gone up to 131.  5 wks 4 days is really early... my babies was low at 6 weeks.  There is time to hope.  My doctor was also rather ?negative?... or I took it that way.  My husband, on the other hand, didn't think he sounded negative.  It's natural to listen for exactly what they say can go wrong. I think they are conditioned to not let you get your hopes up but it is ridic. how they worry you sometimes.  I would suggest, if you arent bleeding any more, go back at 7 weeks and see where the heartbeat is!

MY babies heartbeat around the 5-6 week mark was only 98, and i thought for sure i was going to have another M/C, My RE said anything at 90 or better was just fine at that stage. Im now in my 19th week with a baby girl,and she is pretty much around 140-150, we check her every night with a doppler... Please try not to worry.

that was on the early side to see a hb... it was probably low because it just started beating!!! congratulations on having such a positive sign so early in the pregnancy. enjoy :)

Question.  We just had a ultrasound and they said the heart beat was at about 79.  Said we had a VERY high chance of miscarriage.  Our number is lower than others mentioned in this post.  Anyone have thoughts or experience is a number this low and had it still progress healthy to term?
