Lower back pain due to ovulation or clomid???

by sbumblebeeo, Jan 10, 2009 06:34PM
I know that it shouldn't be happening.  I am only on CD14 but my lower back is killing me.  It always hurts like this right before I start my period.  I am not due to start until 1-28.  What could possibly be going on?  I really want to have a baby NOT a period.  Anyone know if this could be b/c of the clomid or maybe I'm going to ovulate?  Help...please..

Why do you think "it shouldn't be happening?" I assume you are talking about ovulation? or did you mean AF? Do you normally have very long cycles? If you have a "normal" period then CD14 is very likely the day you could ovulate on. And even if you don't normally have a regular cycle ovulation can shift around so this could definitely be it. When i ovulate it often makes me feel like I'm going to get my period..that same sensation in my back for a good part of the day.  So yes.  I would say most likely you are ovulating.  BD away!

THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING!!!!  What I meant by "it shoudn't be happening" was my period.  I don't typically have a period at all (is that what AF means??)  I did last month after my first round of 50mgs Clomid.  Yep the day I was going to test I started.  So I started 100mgs on day 5 of my cycle and here I am at day 15 now.  I have been taking my temp and doing OPK's and still nothing.  Now my lower back is starting to hurt and I am feeling as if I might start my period again it's been like this for the second day in a row now.  I took a bath last night and that seemed to help.  But my cycle shouldn't come until the 28th of this month.  It's way too early for it.  So why the pain???  I am hoping that it might be that I am going to ovulate but I just don't know.  You say you get the same sensations when you ovulate so maybe...I really hope so.  I am going to take another OPK test today.  I pray for a smiley face.

Thanks Again

Yeah I hope you get a positive OPK to.  (AF is abbreviation for period) I haven't used much of them and I'm actually not terribly well versed on clomid either but I know there are a lot of women who take clomid and could probably help with any questions related to that.  I have also heard women talk about having OPKs that don't line up all the time so they should be giving you a good result, but trust them cautiously.  The temping is a great thing although you will only see ovulation after it has happened.  That is why the temp rises.  Since the egg is only viable for 24 hours or so after ovulation it's a good idea to keep an eye on cervical mucus etc and other ovulation signs.  Since cm can keep sperm alive for up to 5 days that block of time pre-ovulation would be your best bet.  Hopefully the OPK's will show you are ovulating soon or if you notice lots of cervical mucus combined with the back pain I would BD just incase!

Good luck!  I hope your cycle regulates itself and things go smoothly!

On a side note, I do not know the side effects of Clomid.  Is it possible the back pain could be a side effect? If not I would assume possible ovulation. Something to ask the other ladies on this forum maybe...

Thank you once again for your response.  I have heard from one other lady that it could just be from ovulation so I'm still hoping.  Technically I am not supposed to o until 5-10 days after my last clomid pill according to the doctor.  That would be from the 10th to 14th.  I should be happening any day now.  I'm going to go test again today and see what happens.  I haven't seen a raise in my temp just yet either.

Thanks Again!!!!
