i just realized i wrote MFTHR twice when i meant to write maybe it's MFHTR - now i'd guess it's MFTHR if i keep writing it like that - that's what's stuck in my head.
I'm not sure about your particular disorder, but i can give you my experience . I have a blood clotting problem as well, it was found when I was 6 months pregnant during my first pregnancy.(my son is now almost 2). they found several small clots in my legs and a very large D.V.T.; they also said that my lupas anticoagulant was positive , which means that i am more prone to future clots and P.E. I was put on heparin injections twice a day until after my son was born;(then I was switched to coumadin) My labour had to be induced early so it could be monitored properly, I wasn't able to have an epideral; and I wasn't able to breast feed.It was very stressfull having to going to the hospital every other day to have my blood checked, but it the end it was all worth it; my son came out 2 weeks early, and a perfectly healthy 7 lbs 11 oz. We are now trying for our second through IUI(just like the first) so I had to get back on the injections because the coumadin is very dangerous when pregnant, I know if and when we do concieve it will be a long nine months of blood checking and shots, but I can't wait! Sorry I rambled on a little but i hope i was of some help. I wish you all the best :)
diamondtracy: thanks for your response. i don't know if what i have is exactly the same as yours - my dr. didn't seem to think i'd have a problem with blood clots other than the ones that can cause early pregnancy loss - that the oxygen can't get to the baby and therefore pregnancy. he did say he'll start me on heparin shots when i am next pregnant (G-d Willing). I think with what i have the pregnancy wouldn't even get to 6 months, but thank you for sharing your experience with me i now know what else i'd like to ask the dr. - if i should be worried about any of the problems you mentioned. enjoy your 2 year old - i hear it's the best age - lots of fun chasing them around - huh?!!?
justsomegirly: hi. thanks so much for the hello - hope all is well with you. i'm just glad that we now know what the problem is and it's easily treatable. i'm looking forward to trying again and hopefully the next one sticking and being healthy!!!
I have MFTHR genetic mutation as well, I have had 1 pregnancy, with no m/c (fortunately), however, this is b/c I was diagnosed as a child (resulting in my first DVT at 14 y/o). I was place on Lovenox shots (Low molecular weight heparin) along with folic acid, calcium, baby aspirin, as well in addition to my regular prenatal vitamin (this was taken during pregnancy planning, and through my pregnancy). These vitamins are taken due to a vitamin malabsorption cause by MFTHR (i believe), also a good amount of Calcium is lost during normal pregnancy as well (i was taking 1000 mg of CA/day and my tooth still chipped off). These vitamins are also vital to the fetal development. I had to be induced 2 weeks before my due date b/c it MUST be a PLANNED pregnancy. This is because Lovenox takes 24 hrs to leave the body's system, and most induced labors that early result in c-sections. (which mine did as well) One must be prepared for pregnancy and labor b/c there are many risks (including placental clotting, and/or hemorraging) My c-section resulted in a uterine hematoma, which healed just fine. A NORMAL LIFE MAY BE LIVED WITH THE MFTHR GENETIC MUTATION; however, one must take good care of his/her health.
