Marijuana and Pregnancy

I have a question. I smoked marijuana before I found out I was pregnant and just a few times when I did find out. Please do not pass judgment on me as I am already guilt ridden about this and have not smoked in over two months. Even though I have gone to the doctor and she seems to think everything is fine I just cant help but feel guilty and worry all the time that my baby will not be ok once she is born, what if I have caused her irreversible neurogical damage? what if she is born with birth defects,or a cleft lip? have any of you smoked and everyhting was ok? ANy advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a cousin-in-law that smoked marijuana and meth in her early months of pregnancy before she knew she was pg and her baby is very healthy.  Her daughter is now about 14 months and seems to be completely normal.  Take care.

If it helps you at all.. I work in a social service agency and we have foster babies who are in here all the time whos parents did MUCH worse then smoke a couple of times when they found out they were pg.  If you stopped when you found out, you SHOULD be perfectly fine.  If you continued to do it, that is another story.  Rest assure that your baby will be fine.  LIke i said.. i know many people who have done worse and their babies are perfect.  Take your prenatal vitamins religiously.  Folic acid is proven to help prevent neuorological disorders.  Good luck and relax!! your babe will be fine.. Also, the drs will be able to detect if anything is wrong with your baby.

I smoked weed before I found out and once after I found out with my first bb. I went to a party w/ my friends and not everyone knew I was prego so someone passed me the joint and I wanted it one last time. I also waited until I ran out of cigarretes twice before I managed to quit. Which is all very bad, but my little girl is three now and is as wonderful and smart as can be. My cousin is still struggling to quit smoking and is in her third month. I know the effects of cigarettes, but not of weed. But youve quit now and that says a lot about your character. You love your little one and care for her well being. I'm sure she will be happy and healthy like my little girl. good luck to you:)

hey u! hope everything works out for u and da babe! i have several friends who smoked marijuana all throughout their pregnancies, and one who smoked on her way to the hospital to have her child. he is healthy but i suggest u stop and stop for good tho. different strokes for different folks bcuz i smoked b4 i was preg and i miscarried! so like i said just be careful and dont do it anymore and seek extra help from ur doctor to make sure everything is ok wit your baby just to be on da safe side. take care gurl and good luck!

ok im not proud to tell this story but my cousin jessica she is 20 one year older than me she got pregnet last year and she uses alot of drugs mostly pot but at that time she was using glass also with pot and everyone thought she was pregnet cause she was losing weight cause of the glass but not in her tummy so she took a preg. test and it came back neg. because of all the s*** she was doing and she kept using pot and a cuple months later she got really sick and her dad took her to hospital and that day the family found out she was 8 months pregnet!!!!!!! my mom was so pissed off because the whole family knew how she used not only her but her sisters and brothers well she had a little girl and i saw her for the first time a cuple of week ago and she looks like a healthy little angel but im not saying its ok to use them because her daughter is ok im 25 weeks pregnet i use to smoke ciggerets before i found out i was pregnet and i stoped clod turkey!!! i cant even be around people that smoke it makes me sick to think my princess might be inhaleing that ****!! oh yeah im having a little girl to!!! yeah! but i have my story to i lost my first baby last year in march i got pregnet again in aug im really happy i want to let you know your in my prayers all of you may god bring u up when your down and never give up hope!!!

I work at a detox center for adults and I have seen women in their 8th month coming in to detox from crack and meth and have been smoking large amounts the entire time. Their babies end up fine.  But later they show behavioral problems such as adhd, dyslexia, ect...

Your baby will be fine, just don't smoke anymore.  My daughter is fine and I did it up to the day I knew I was pregnant.  You'll be ok.

Hey. Its all good girl. Ditto with both of my kids. Actually with my second pregnancy, I hit the bowl once or twice during the second trimester for the pain. I had alot of back pain and felt like I was ODing on Tylonol, so I decided I would take a hit of a bowl. NO MORE. Don't worry. Your baby will be fine. Good luck.
