Markedly elevated alkaline phosphatase levels in 14 month daughter.

by jbean, May 30, 2006 12:00AM
My 14 month daughter is being investigated for celiac disease or other malabsorption problems.  Her blookwork came back and all her liver function tests were normal but her alk phos was 12,800 U/L!!  The test was repeated and confirmed.  Her doctor is trying to rule out liver or bone involvement.  He is testing her for rickets.  Can rickets cause such high levels of alk phos?  I've been searching the internet for answers and the highest levels I could find mentioned were around 3,000 U/L. She just had x-ray of her hands and wrists yesterday and vit-D blood testing.  Any input would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!
