Hi ladies. I have a question, i know when your pregnant you should only take tylonal but i have caught this horrible cold going around and was wondering what can be taken for that?
medscape.com has a list of drugs that are safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex to take during pregnancy. but i would think you would want to speak w/ your dr before taking anything.
thanks I talked to my Doctor and she said just rest and take tylonal. this stinks! I wish i could go home and sleep for a hundred years! im soooo tired
i had a cold or something recently- it was a bad cough (sounded like a barking seal or something) plus stuffed and runny noseNose fracture a really sore throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture and my whole head ust felt stuffed and yucky. i dont have a reg doc so i called my ob gyn they said to try sudafed or robitussin dm for cough, halls for throat, and a nasal spray for my nose- after trying these for 2 days and seeming to get worse.i called them back and they got me in to see doc-she prescribed a antibiotic (just in case i had a sinus infection) and a cough syrup w/codiene and tested me for strep throat.after the 1st day of taking them i was already feeling a bunch better.
im not sure if the sudafed, robitussin dm or halls are ok for all trimesters as i am not a doctor, but you could call them in the a.m and ask or try to get a appt.
Sudafed and Benadryl are safe during pregnancies. I have taken both during every single one of my pregnanies (5)and had no problems at all. I get terrible colds every time during my first trimester. I think my immune system gets down or something. I take benadryl at night cause it also knocks me out and sudafed during the day. They also told me to take robitussin for my cough but I never did take it.
I am a paranoid person about taking drugs during pregnancy too. Take some Benedryl...don't suffer through a cold without it.
It depends on which trimester you're in right now. I was told sudafed is only safe after your first trimester. Also, if you haven't gotten your flu shot you definitely should get one.
Pregnant woman who take antidepressants are in danger of causing birth defects in their babies, according to researchers. They found that a group of medications including such brands as Prozac and Seroxat can increase the risk by more than half..
Women using Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy –when many may be unaware they are expecting-were at 40% greater risk of their baby suffering malformations such as cleft palate. The risk of heart defects was 60% higher.
The study by researchers in the US and Denmark compared 1054 women who took SSRI`s during the first 3 months of pregnancy with 150 000 who were not prescribed them.
A second study of 400 cases of persistent pulmonary hypertension which affects the circulation of newborn babies found a five-fold increased risk linked to use of SSRI`s in late pregnancy”
Just because a prescription drug is listed as safe to take while pregnant that does not mean that it actually is at all. They are best avoided whenever possible.
