Melamine in infant formula

What do you guys think about the latest news on the traces of Melamine found in infant formula here in the States? Do you believe what they say that it's small enough amounts that it won't hurt the baby or are you wary or concerned about this? I've heard a couple of different stories on this.  Some say the traces found are harmless, some say there's not enough evidence.
Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on this.

I do have to laugh as the news story broke after one of the parenting magazines went to press vehemently claiming there is no way it could ever happen in the United States because we have such strict standards. Yeah right.

Its troubling, very troubling.  

Infants are completely helpless and dependent on us to provide safe and secure food sources.  I suppose its good they are testing for it now, and that the levels found are far, far below what was found in China.  

They say its a byproduct of the manufacturing process, and can be a result of cleaning of the machines used in the production process.  

I suppose we'll hear more as time goes on.

Was thinking of b/f and supplementing with formula to work but think I'll just invest in a good pump and do 100% b/f. That seems to be the only way to know for sure.

Even if they say it's safe, how would you know, esp. longterm? It's not like they experimented on test groups. Was there any formula or manufacturer that DIDN'T test positive?
