Middle Name issue again

by nikkicole827, Jul 19, 2007 04:47PM
So I came up with a name I like... Kellen but it has TONS of spelling and pronunciation variations.  Keep in mind it's a middle name to Leah and let me knwo which you like?  I think some are pronounced KEL-EN and some are KI-LYnn and some are KAY-LYNN.  I dont think I'd go with Kay-lynn pronunciations because our neice is named Kaylee.

Reading your list, I think Kellen is very pretty and would be pronounced like "Ellen" by about everyone who reads it.  If that is the pronunciation you want, I'd use that spelling.  Only Kellan and Kellin on your list would also automatically get the assumption that they rhyme with Ellen, but their spellings look a little more like boys' names.  Most of the others would lend themselves to the assumption that they are "Kay" or "key" as first syllables, or "lan" (like in "land") as the last syllable, and Kealyn looks like it should be pronounced "Key-ay-lynn," which I assume is not what you are after.  It depends on whether you want the rhymes-with-Ellen pronunciation or some other, of course!  :)

I like the Kellen that rymes with Ellen/Helen version but I also thought some spellings looked like Ky-lynn and I like that too.  I don't like Key-lynn

I actually grew up with a girl names Kellen (rhymes with Ellen/Helen) and everyone always complimented her on her name - and I don't think I've met another Kellen since!  Very original - I love it!  You could spell it Kellin, Kellan, Kellynn, or Kellyn - I think my favorite is the second to last spelling, especially with Leah.  Leah Kellynn - I don't know...I just like it! LOL...I always worked at a preschool and had a little girl named Keelyn (pronounced Key-Lynn) - I def don't like that as much as Kellen - rhymes with Ellen/Helen =)

lol I dated a guy name Kellen (pronounced as Ellen/Helen) If you go with that I'd probably spell it Kellyn so it' more girly. :) I like Leah KayLynn, too. KayLynn pronounced almost as 2 seperate names. My dh says go with Leah Olivia.....like our dog. (??? he was looking over my shoulder just then. wierdo)

We had a little boy in preschool named Kehlen.  We also have a Kaylie and a Kylee - my niece is Kaylynn (we have a Kaelyn at preschool)  and to toss another name in the hat- I have a niece and her name was Kaymaen.  (pronounced Kay - men)  Her full name was Kaymaen Shae.  I thought that was really pretty.  Hate to say this - but I personally would avoid some of the more different spellings - as a Rebecka - I have spent my ENTIRE life spelling my name to people - gets irritating after a while - just a thought

I like Kalin... We named our baby that we lost Dalin, and I think unique spellings are kind of cool.  My name is Kaitlin and no ever spells it right, if so very rarely and it can get frustrating.  But unique names are also pretty cool.

I like the spelling Kellen. I've never heard it before but love it. Really pretty!
I agree that it's nice that you automatically know how it's said aloud.

I love Kellen or Kellyn (sounds like Ellen/Helen). Kaylin or Kaelyn are becoming VERY popular. I know 3 born in the last year, and I'm not a big fan of that name. I think Kellen is beautiful, especially with Leah as a first name. We have picked a boy and a girl name since we're not finding out, and last night we finally decided that a girl's middle name will be my maiden name, and a boy's middle name will be my husband's first name. It's all just so exciting and frustrating at the same time! Let us know what you decide!
