Migraine and Tension headache after miscarraige(miscarriage)

Migraine and Tension headache after miscarraige(miscarriage)

My doctors could not find my baby heartbeat so they had to do Dnc  around Nov 15 2008. 2 days later I started having severe headache, I was in so much pain I ended up in ER, they refer me to Neurologist.  He informed me that it was hormonal headache/migrain after the miscarrage (miscarriage).  Since then I have been on pain management with Replax, Naproxes, Lyrica and nortriptyline.  Before this I have never had headache or migraine.  I am so tired of the pain management because it is really affecting my quality of life at work , with family and friends.  Please if you experience this please can you tell me what you took to make all this go away , how long it took to feel normal again.  I recently started acupuncture and chiropractor. please any answer you can give me will be really helpful

Thank you all in advance

wow I am really glad you posted here.  I had not heard of headaches with this cause.  I went to my GP yesterday and he was discussing the possibility of a tumor.  I also have unexplained milk production so it may be a bit different than yours.  I have to go for a brain scan on 2/25 to see what is going on.  I am totally freaked out.  I also had a miscarriage in the middle of november, but no one mentioned that my head aches could be caused by this.  I have only taken tylenol for this so I cant really answer your question.  Sorry.  I just wanted to thank you for your post as it has eased my mind a bit!

Just like some women get migraines that are triggered by hormone fluctuations at different times in their cycles, a m/c causes hormone fluctuations as well.  I got migraines very sporadically before my last m/c in Oct of last year, and the intensity and frequency increased after.  I can't tell you how long it can go on for, I would imagine it would be different for everyone, and could affect someone for a short time or a long time, depending on how your hormones adjust.  I am hoping that when my cycles return to normal, that will mean my hormones have returned to normal for me and that the migraines will calm.  Good luck to both of you, I know how miserable it is!

Thanks to you both.   I also did cat scan, sonogram of the head and xray and it all came out normal. How we tested the hormonal inbalance was my doctor gave me a birth control with estrogen and it trigger the headache more. Also I have had two period since then, and it is not fully reg ular
