Mild Pre-Eclampsia... HELP

Mild Pre-Eclampsia... HELP

I am 38 weeks pregnant and In the past week I have been sent over to the hospital a total of 4 times by my doctor and have been catheterized 6! My blood pressure is 172/128 most of the time, and my feet are huge and painful. I also have 3+ protein in my urine both when I urinate in a cup and when I'm catheterized. I had pre-eclampsia with my first baby, and as soon as they caught it, they rushed me to the hospital to be induced, but this time it seems like all it is are endless wastes of time trips to the hospital, and having to drive an hour each way to get there. I've been sent to the specialist 2 times this week and I can't keep driving this far, but no one will listen to me. I don't know what to do. My daughter was delivered at 37 weeks, so why will they not induce me now? I'm really dizzy and lightheaded and sometimes have blurry vision, but It seems like they don't care. Yesterday they said they aren't concerned. My mom works at a local hospital and was talking to a few of the nurses and doctors and they told her to have me take Robitussin because It loosens the mucus membranes throughout your body, and It will make you go into labor. Is this true? I'll try anything safe. Im worried about my baby and my own health, I really don't want to have a seizure or anything happen to my baby. Please if anyone has any info, tell me, I need some guidance.
They told me that I do have pre eclampsia but if I do, why wont they do anything? The ultrasound said she weighs almost 8 lbs, and she is doing well... I just dont understand.

i dont know about the robitussin, but i was told by my dr that it is on the safe list of meds you can take while prego. so i would think a little wouldnt hurt. just dont take it, get to sleepy, try to drive, crash your car and end up in a big ol mess. but if you got someone there w/ you that can drive you i would go for it. mmm. i heard of the sperm/semen (sp?) can do something to help contractions come on. walking, (But i guess if your all swollen up you dont want to walk to much, i know i dont my feet on the bottom are all swollen and brused up)  i cant really think of anything other than that. good luck. **sorry about the drs you are dealing with. you would think if they know your condition and situation w/ your last one that they would have already induced.

i think you need to get a second opinion. you have all the symptoms of pre-eclampsia and from what i have read, they should be inducing you. You are not too early to go and the baby is plenty big enough, it shouldnt even be a question.

i dont understand either, they really dont have any reason not to induce you...

YOU NEED A SECOND OPINION!!! I am not a doctor, but I work in Labor and Devlivery as a RN and if someone come in with that BP and protein in urine and those symptoms, they would immediately be put on magnesium sulfate to prevent seizures, BP meds and either be induced or have a c-section. You need to deliver for your health and your baby.

I feel so awful right now. I think I have the flu as well. Only problem is Its hard for me to go and get a second opinion on it because I live In a really small town in West Virginia and there really are only 2 offices around that even deal with pre natal. And ive been to both of them. They told me that unless I was seeing spots or having migraines, then they werent concerned at all about me or the baby's health. I think they are insane and I dont want anything to happen to my baby. I had magnesium sulfate once before to stop me from going into preterm labor so I know about it... I just wish they would do something. Last week they said If I start to get dizzy and lightheaded then I needed to come straight to the hospital and they would induce me and now I am having those symptoms, and they keep coming up with excuses. Im really worried, I can barely stand up without feeling like I am going to pass out.

Go to the er, tell them you are dizzy.  You need to be induced.

I agree with the above posters, get a second opinion and fast! This is  potentially dangerous for the both of you. As a matter of fact, my Dr. admitted me to the hospital for bedrest and monitoring and my bp was like 180 over 110...he explained that the placenta can shear off the uterine wall with bp that high and then it is over! I don't want to scare you, but I want you to have a good outcome. At  38 weeks they will usually induce and you will have the baby. I was 34 weeks when I was admitted and had the baby at 37 weeks. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Hello all. I went to the ER last night and told them I was seeing spots, but this time I really was. They put me on the BP monitor and it was 178/132. They told me to go home, lay on my left side and drink lots of fluids. ARE THEY INSANE? So I had a follow up with the stupid OB and BP was 180/132 this time. More protein than before, and Carleighs heartrate would go from 140 to 70. But they still say they arent concerned. I have to idea what to do now. I think the world has gone nuts.
