hi there, so sorry about your loss.
i miscarried at about 6 weeks i had a d&c, it took me 4 weeks to get a period, i am starting to try now, as my doc told me to start taking my vitamins again and to wait for at least one period.
you haven't explained much was it a natural miscarriage, how far along was you.

Yes, it was natural.  It was my third.  I was about a month along with this one.  The others I was around 11 weeks with both.  I was taking progesterone, but I was only taking one tablet a day.  I feel awful because I looked at the bottle a day after the misscarriage and it said I was supposed to take three pills a day.  We had been trying to get pregnant again after the 2nd misscarriage in Feb. '03.  It has taken us that long to get pregnant and I was seeing a specialist, but he's not too friendly and I just don't want to go back there.  I have faith I'll get pregnant again sooner than before because I am on Clomid.  I just hope that if I do take the right amount of progesterone that it will fix the problem.  I'm so sorry about your loss.  Was it your first?

It seems like every doctor has their own preference for how long their patients wait to get pregnant again.  My doctor told me to have at least one cycle, and get moved into my new home first.  My sister in law's doctor told her six months.  Maybe it depends on why you miscarried and how far along you were?

I'm so sorry about your loss. It seems to be a hot debate about how long to wait. Every doctor seems to say something different. I've heard wait for one period and I've also heard to wait for 3 periods. I think it depends on your emotional and physical readiness. You know your body best. If you do an internet search you'll find lots of different views on the subject, but most sites say ask your doctor. If you are not happy with your current doctor, you could consult with another about how long to wait. Good luck! Keep us updated.

Ok, since we are kinda on the topic I have a couple questions....How many of you that had a D&C, waited until your AF came before TTC again? If you didn't wait and did get prego....did it succeed or end in another miscarriage?

Here is my story for those who don't know. I had a missed miscarriage(my first one) around 11wks and had to get a D&C after I began to hemorrhage. This was on May 21st. My doc said to wait for at least 1 normal AF. Well, I haven't had it yet, and Im growing impatient. My AF was due last week(28 day) according to my prior charting or this week(35 day).(my AF had been varying between 28 and 35 day cycles, prior to m/c) I want to start TTC again, but Im also afraid I might increase the risk of miscarrying again if I don't wait. I guess I just want to hear the pros and cons of not waiting.

I had a D&C with all three of my miscarriages. The doctor told me if I would have naturally passed the fetus we could try right away but because I had a D & C I should wait for 3 cycles before trying again so that my uterus linning could thicken. I waited the first time 3 months and got pregnant and miscarried. I waited 2 months the second time and misccarried and then the third time I waited 5 months and finally had a healthy pregnancy. But with the third time we tried progesterone so I could have miscarried the last times do to that and not because of when we tried again...sorry I'm probably not much help but I waited at least 2 months. The doctor scared me a little when he said if the linning wasn't thick enough for the egg to attach real good I would have a higher chance of miscarriage.....but I wanted to try again so bad....When you miscarry naturally your linning is still real thick....
