Missed miscarriage and concieving again

Missed miscarriage and concieving again

Hey all. I lost a pregnancy due to a blighted ovum diagnosed at 7 weeks. I had a d & c at 9 weeks but the sac was only measuring 5 1/2 weeks. two weeks later dh and I started ttc again because we noticed some signs of ovulation. about a week after we first tried I took a hpt and was + I know this is probably left over hcg still circulating I took another test a week later and the + was barely visible and today I took another and the + was about the same as the last hpt. My nipples have been sensitive and I've had a little nasuea but I'm not sure If I'm jsut being hopeful.  Do you think I could be pg again? I thought the hpt would either be negative by now as I was following them or brighter then the last if I was pg but it looking the same as the last is throwing me for a loop. according to my estimates I'm 11 days past O and a little over 3 weeks past my d & c.

Silver, it is not possible to tell what is going on for you.  If you miscarry, it is always a good time to get a beta hCG count to confirm that your hCG is in fact at or near 0, for this very reason -- too soon after a m/c, you can't be sure if the hCG you are having show up in pregnancy tests is from the old pregnancy or a new one.  If the pain gets acute, go to the ER and get checked.  If not, call your doc in the morning and schedule two beta hCGs two days apart, to understand whether the number is going up or down.  Or, schedule an ultrasound to see if you have retained any placental tissue or other products of conception.  If the latter, you should begin to bleed to get rid of it, or you should talk to your doctor about other options such as a D&C.  Good luck in any case.  I hope you get to your next pregnancy really soon!

This is why doctors recommend women wait until they've had at least 1-3 cycles before trying to conceive again because it's difficult to know if this is leftover HCG or a new pregnancy.

Also, sex so soon after the D&C could've caused infection, thus the pain you're feeling.

It's too early for a sonogram if this is a new pregnancy. I'd get some beta HCG tests done over the course of a week or two to see if they're doubling. That would indicate a viable pregnancy.

Thanks for your responses. My doc cleared me for sex. I wouldn't risk an infection I am not an idiot!!! I called the doc the pain went away but they asked me to come in anyway to get checked out. Maybe it was gas? certainly didn't feel like that though
