Moaning baby

Moaning baby

Hi there, my 11 week old baby is absolutley lovely, but and it's a fairly big BUT he suffers from colic and has also been diagnosed with a reflux problem, which is being treated. I breast feed him and latelt he seems to be getting very agitated when I am trying to place him to the breast, sucking for a few seconds then pulling of again, I am producing enough milk as I can expess it also, I know this on/off thing he is doing will be adding to the wind intake so obviously want to rectify it quickly. The other problem I am ahving with him is he is moaning shouting alot, it does not appear to be him just finding his voice, it's not the cute cooing and ooing that they do, it is more agitated, I sing to him, rock him, play with him in his bouncer and also on his play mat - which had lots of lovely hanging things and musical things on it, but still he shouts, I have tried leaving him to stimulate himself incase I am over stimulating as well as sitting with him and talking softly and excitedly. My older son (who is now 8) appears to be able to entertain him the majority of the time (when he is home from school) and enjoys doing so. There are still those times though that even he cannot gain my babys attention. I don't understand why thia is happening - my olfest son was nothing like this. I think my baby may be tired as during the day he sleeps no longs that 30 mins at a time then wakes again and shouts and moans. Obvously something is disturbing him and not allowing him to settle, I just don't know what - Does anyone have any other ideas or tips with regards to both the breast feeding and the moaning?

My son did a similar thing - where he's suck suck and then pull off...  I called and spoke to a lactation consultant and she said to burp him and offer him the other side when he does that.  It was something about learning to suck when he's there and if he pulls off then he needs to be put up and burped.  About the moaning and such - my son was a grunter - turns out he was constipated.  The dr said there's no length of time that a breast fed baby can go with out pooping -but come on - if he goes 9 days with no poop!?  I'd be moaning too!  We used glycerine suppositories and now give pear juice.  My son gets bottles of breast milk I've pumped during the day when I'm at work - so we give 2 oz of pear juice and 6 oz of bm in a bottle.  You could talk to your dr about constipation maybe...?  At 2 mos my son went about 6 days then he was fine for 2 mos -then again at 4 mos...    That's just my experience - hope you get it figured out!
